Frequently Asked Questions

are we going to watch
any good films?
•are you serious?

well, are we?
•Ok, fine. So, the long answer...

so in this class we just basically
chill & watch movies, right?
•Oh, no no no. We DO watch films, but
that’s not all...

how are we graded?
•That’s in the syllabus.

what kind of tests do
we take?
•Essays, mostly.
•Hi, welcome to an ENGLISH class! :)
•we might take others.

I heard we get to make a movie in
this class. Do we get to pick who is in
our group?
•Yes, but the group project is not until next
quarter. We’ll discuss the group selection
process then.

If I’m absent, can I just rent the
film we’re watching in class?
•Not a bad idea, but try not to be absent.
•You are responsible for making up any
missed films we watch in class ASAP.

If I’m absent, you’ll tell
me what I missed,
right?
•Only AFTER you’ve checked edmodo.com
and the class calendar.

what’s the makeup
policy?
•Three school days. No exceptions. You
arrange the time with me.

do you allow extra
credit?
•No, so don’t ask.

is it possible to be
exempt from the final?
•Only if you can maintain a 95 or better
average by the end of the second quarter.

can we choose our
own seats?
•as long as you don’t put me in a position to
have to move you... :)

do we need to bring
books every day?
•Notebook, yes. The textbook generally
stays here. Bring your own pens. Don’t
come empty-handed.

when are we going to start
watching the first movie?
•Soon. We have to get through some intro
lessons first.

is it ok for me to sleep/eat food/text
message/catch up on homework during
class while we watch the movie?
•I know you probably wouldn’t actually ask
me this, but the answer is absolutely
NOT!!!

is it ok for me to whine, complain about what
we’re watching, act like an idiot/clown/fool, slack
off, cut class, show up late, come to class empty-
handed, annoy you or my fellow classmates?
•You wouldn’t ask me this either. But in
case you did, I’d probably say no.

are you always this
mean?
•No. I actually have a great sense of
humor. :) But if having high expectations of
you is ‘mean’, then yes...I am very, very
mean.
•LET’S HAVE FUN!
