Case Study (Continued) Case Study 1 Adani Group is an Indian multinational conglomerate founded in 1988 by Gautam Adani . The company has grown to become one of the largest companies in India, with operations in several sectors including ports, logistics, agribusiness, real estate, and renewable energy. On the other hand, Hindenburg Research is a research firm specializing in short selling and uncovering financial and operational issues in publicly traded companies. Analyse the case of Adani Group and express your views on this Claim made by Hindenburg Research Team.

Case Study 2 Coal India Limited (CIL) is an Indian central public sector undertaking under the ownership of the Ministry of Coal,  Government of India. It is headquartered in Kolkata. It is the largest   government-owned-coal-producer in the world. It is also the seventh largest employer in India with nearly 272,000 employees. The company's market capitalization is 1,38,230 crores . Over the past 5 years, the company has resulted in an overall 15.36% decrease in the market share. The main reason behind this downfall is the company’s dividend policy. Even though the net profit of Coal India is increased over five years but it can’t improve its market share. What is the impact of dividend policies and strategies of Coal India on the share price?

Case Study 4 In the early 1990s, Harshad Mehta, a stockbroker in Mumbai, orchestrated one of the biggest stock market scams in India’s history. His modus operandi was to use fake bank receipts to manipulate the stock prices of certain companies, leading to a surge in their share prices. He then sold those shares at inflated prices, reaping massive profits in the process. Mehta’s fraudulent activities resulted in a significant loss of investor confidence in the Indian securities market and underscored the need for stronger regulatory measures to protect investors. The Harshad Mehta scam was a wake-up call for Indian regulators, who realized that the country’s securities market was in dire need of a regulatory overhaul. The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the country’s securities regulator, took a number of steps to improve corporate governance and investor protection in the wake of the scandal. These measures included increasing the transparency of stock trading, strengthening insider trading regulations, and improving the disclosure requirements for listed companies. What went wrong in this case?

Case Study 5 Former ICICI Bank CEO and MD Chanda Kochhar and her husband Deepak Kochhar were produced before the Mumbai special court by the CBI on Saturday, December 24 2022 in a case related to alleged irregularities in an over Rs 3,000 crore loan provided to Venugopal Dhoot’s Videocon Group. The couple was arrested on Friday. The loan fraud case made headlines in 2019 and came as a shock to the public. The 59-year-old Chanda Kochhar received the Padma Bhushan , one of India’s highest civilian honors, in 2011. She was also featured in ‘The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women’ list by Forbes International for seven consecutive years and also named among TIME magazine’s ‘100 Most Influential People in the World in 2015. In this case, the market capitalization of ICICI was severely affected. How to overcome this kind of problem in future.

Thank You
