CONTENTS Introduction Objective Scope of the Project Literature Review Cost Estimation Reference 2

INTRODUCTION This project focuses on the development of an automatic cage system for efficient poultry management. Traditional poultry farming requires significant manual labour for feeding, watering. This system automates essential tasks using microcontrollers, sensors, and mechanical mechanisms to reduce labor, enhance productivity, and ensure optimal animal welfare. The smart cage includes features like automatic feeding, water supply, temperature monitoring. The project aims to provide a cost-effective and scalable solution for both small and large poultry farms. 3

OBJECTIVE Automate feeding and watering systems Monitor environmental conditions (temperature, humidity) Improve poultry health and productivity through automation Ensure uniform and timely feeding schedules to optimize growth rates and minimize feed wastage. 4

SCOPE OF THE PROJECT The scope of this project encompasses the design, development, and implementation of a semi-autonomous poultry cage system to enhance productivity, reduce manual labor, and improve the living conditions of poultry animals. The system integrates sensors, actuators, and a microcontroller to perform essential tasks such as automatic feeding, watering, egg collection, temperature control, and waste monitoring. This project can be deployed in both small-scale and commercial poultry farms. It is designed to be modular , scalable , and cost-effective , making it accessible to rural farmers as well as large agribusinesses. 6

LITERATURE REVIEW S.No Title / Source Author(s) Key Features Limitations Relevance to Project 1 Smart Poultry House Monitoring System Using IoT (E3S Conf., 2023) R. Sasirekha et al. - NodeMCU with IR, PIR, DHT11 - Automatic coop door, water level monitor - Alerts via MQTT & ThingSpeak - Limited scalability - Setup complexity Directly aligns with small-scale automatic cage system 2 Automation and Smart Poultry Farm Management: A Review (IJPS, 2021) Priya et al. - AI, IoT, Big Data use - Gas, temp, light, feed/waste automation - Smart sensors + GSM & cloud - High cost - Poor rural adoption due to complexity Offers a roadmap for scalable smart poultry solutions 7
