At the end of this lessons, the pupils are expected to; Define Solid Figures using various concrete and pictorial model. Assemble the solid figures with the provided faces using cut cardboard. Reflect the importance of solid figures around us. OBJECTIVES
VISUALIZE AND DESCRIBING SOLID FIGURES
SOLID FIGURES Solid figures are three-dimensional object has length, width, and height. Moreover, they have faces, vertices and edges.
FACE The face is a curved or flat surface of a solid figure.
EDGE The edge is a line segment between the face.
VERTEX The vertex is a point where the two edges met.
SOLID FIGURES POLYHEDRON NON-POLYHEDRON
POLYHEDRON If all its faces are polygons. A 3-dimensional solid with flat polygonal faces, straight edges and sharp corners or vertices CUBE PYRAMID RECTANGULAR PRISM
NON-POLYHEDRON A 3-dimensional solid with at least one curved face. CYLINDER CONE SPHERE
1. What are the different solid figures mentioned in the video? CUBE PYRAMID CYLINDER CONE SPHERE RECTANGULAR PRISM
CUBE Is also a prism with congruent squares as bases (or sides) and lateral faces. It has 6 faces, 12 edges and 8 vertices.
PYRAMID Is a solid figure made up of base and triangular faces. These faces meet at a common topmost point called the vertex. It has 5 faces, 8 edges and 5 vertices.
RECTANGULAR PRISM Is a solid figure that have parallel faces that have the same shapes. These faces of its sides are parallelograms. It has 6 faces, 12 edges and 8 vertices.
Is a solid figure that has two circles and curved lateral faces. It has 3 faces, 2 edges and 0 vertex. CYLINDER
A solid figure that has a circular flat base and a curved face pointed towards the top. The pointed top end of the cone is called the vertex. It has 2 faces, 1 edge and 1 vertex. CONE
Is a solid figure in which all points are of equal distance from a point called its center and these points form a curved surface as well. It has 1 face, 0 edge and 0 vertex. SPHERE
