FIREWORKS
WHAT ARE FIREWORKS ? Fireworks are a class of low explosive pyrotechnic devices used for aesthetic and entertainment purposes. Fireworks are generally classified as to where they perform, either as a ground or aerial firework. ORIGIN:Fireworks were originally invented in China. One of the cultural practices for fireworks was to scare away evil spirits. And Indians throughout the world celebrate with fireworks as part of their popular "festival of lights" (Diwali) in Oct-Nov every year.
HOW ARE FIREWORKS MADE? These are basically three types fireworks: firecrackers, sparklers and aerial fireworks. firecrackers consists of gunpowder and a fuse wrapped tightly in a papertube. sparklers are made of fuel,an oxidizer, binder, and iron or steel powder The fuel is usually charcoal and the binder is sugar or starch. The fuel and binder are mixed with water and poured into a form of a wire is dipped into it when it dries,it is ready to light.
ITS EFFECTS ON ATMOSPEHERE Fireworks cause extensive air pollution in a short amount of time, leaving metal particles, dangerous toxins, harmful chemicals and smoke in the air for hours and days. Some of the toxins never fully decompose or disintegrate, but rather hang around in the environment, poisoning all they come into contact with. Exposure to fine particles, like those found in smoke and haze, is linked to negative health implications, such as coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, asthma attacks and even heart attacks, according to the EPA.
ITS IIL EFFECTS ON GREEN HOUSE BURNING OF FIRE CRACKERS RELEASES GASES SUCH AS CARBONDIOXIDE AND OTHER OXIDES OF NITROGEN AND SULPHUR WHICH CREATES A LAYER OF BLANKET WHICH DOES NOT ALLOW THE RADIATION TO GO OUT FROM EARTH’S SURFACE THUS MAKING THE EARTH’S SURFACE WARM AND THEREBY GIVING RAISE TO GLOBAL WARMING.
