Food Safety and Standard Act, 2006: An Integrated Food Law To consolidate/integrate food laws Establish Food Safety and Standards Authority of India for laying down science based standards for articles of food and regulate their manufacture, storage, distribution, sale and import, to ensure availability of safe and wholesome food for human consumption.

Food Safety and Standard Act, 2006 Received the assent of the President on 23rdAugust, 2006 The Food Safety & Standards Act 2006 is Act to consolidate the laws relating to food and to establish the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India for laying down science based standards for articles of food and to regulate their manufacture, storage distribution, sale and import, to ensure availability of safe and wholesome food for human consumption and for matters connected therewith or incidental there to.

FSS Act, 2006 - Operationalisation Food Safety and Standards Act ,2006 - passed by Indian Parliament and notified on 24th August, 2006 Authority Established- in Sept, 2008. FSS Regulations Notified -3th August, 2011. New Act operationalised- 5th August,2011. All Food Business Operators in India to get Licensed/Registered with Food Safety Authority.
