CONDITIONAL (IF CLAUSES) Conditional . (If clauses)

(IF CLAUSES) Conditionals are sentences that talk about a condition (if something happens) and a result (what happens because of it). Formula: If + condition, result Example: If it rains, I will stay home Defination:

STRUCTURE OF A CONDITIONAL SENTENCE A conditional has two parts: If Clause (Condition Part) → tells what might happen. Main Clause (Result Part) → tells the result of that condition. Main Clause If Clause

CLAUSES STRUCTURE: If + condition, result If you study hard, you will pass the exam. (Condition: you study hard → Result: you pass the exam) EXAMPLE:

WHY WE USE CONDITIONALS We use conditionals to talk about: Facts or general truths (Always true situations) Possible future actions Imaginary or unreal situations Regrets or things that didn’t happen in the past USES

Conditionals are very important in English because they help express: General truths or scientific facts → If you heat water, it boils. Real future possibilities → If it rains tomorrow, we will cancel the trip. Imaginary or unreal situations → If I were rich, I would travel the world. Past regrets or things that didn’t happen → If I had studied, I would have passed. They are used in speaking, writing, and grammar to talk about possibility, cause, and result. USES AND IMPORTANCE OF CONDITIONALS

KEY RULES Condition → Comes after “if” Result → Comes in the main clause. Tenses Matter: Each type of conditional uses a specific tense combination (Present, Past, or Perfect). Comma Rule: When the “If clause” comes first → add a comma. Example: If it rains, I will stay home. When it comes second → no comma. Example: I will stay home if it rains.

KEY POINT FINAL THOUGHT: Conditionals connect cause and effect, helping us express logic, possibility, and imagination clearly in English.
