B.J.P.S Samiti’s M.V.HERWADKAR ENGLISH MEDIUM HIGH SCHOOL STD : 9th Chapter- Force and laws of motion Program: Semester: Course: NAME OF THE COURSE Name : Teja.R.Badli 1

INTRODUCTION TO FORCE Force is an essential concept in physics that describes the push or pull on an object. Force is defined as an external cause that a body experiences asa result of interacting with another body. Whenever two objects interact, a force is exerted on each object. M.V.HERWADKAR ENGLISH MEDIUM SCHOOL 2

Effects of force Force moves stationary objects Force stops objects from motion Force changes the shape of the body Force changes the direction of motion M.V.HERWADKAR ENGLISH MEDIUM SCHOOL 3

BALANCED AND UNBALANCED FORCES When equal forces act in opposite directions on an object, they are called Balanced forces .In this case, there is no net effect on the object’s motion, and it remains at rest or continues moving at a constant speed in the same direction. Balanced forces do not cause changes in motion. Unbalanced forces are forces that do not cancel each other out and result in a net force acting on an object. This net force causes changes in the object’s motion, such as speeding up, slowing down,or changing direction. An object subjected to unbalanced forces will move in the direction of the stronger force. M.V.HERWADKAR ENGLISH MEDIUM SCHOOL 4

FIRST LAW OF MOTION M.V.HERWADKAR ENGLISH MEDIUM SCHOOL 6 An object continues to be in a state of rest or of uniform motion along a straight line unless acted upon by an unbalanced force .

Inertia and Mass The natural tendency of objects to resist a change in their state of rest or of uniform motion is called inertia. The mass of an object is a measure of its inertia. Its SI unit is kilogram(kg) M.V.HERWADKAR ENGLISH MEDIUM SCHOOL 7

Second LAW OF MOTION The rate of change of momentum of an object is proportional to the applied unbalanced force in the direction of the force . The momentum of an object is the product of its mass and velocity and has the Same direction as that of the velocity. Its SI unit is kgm /s M.V.HERWADKAR ENGLISH MEDIUM SCHOOL 8

THIRD LAW OF MOTION To every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction and they act on two different bodies. M.V.HERWADKAR ENGLISH MEDIUM SCHOOL 9
