Present Perfect Simple Present Perfect Continuous Affirmative : Subject + has/have + V3 Negative : Subject + has/have + not + V3 Affirmative : Subject + has/have + been + V - ing Negative : Subject + has/have + not + been + V - ing Actions that have just finished. Example: I’ ve lost my map of the rainforest. Actions that began in the past and are still happening now or have been repeatedly until now Example: Alya has been asking their parents about the trip Actions that happened at unspecified time in the past. Example: We haven’t crossed the river. To talk about actions that happened repeatedly in the past and have just finished , but have results that affect the present. Example: She is sleepy because she has been staying up all night. Actions that focus on the result of the actions. Example: He has repaired the car. Actions that focus on the duration of the actions. Example: He has been repairing his car for 2 hours. Actions that began in the past and continue in the present. Example: My sister hasn’t called me since last Sunday. Icebergs The word ‘iceberg’ probably comes from the Norwegian word ‘ isberg ’, which means ‘ice mountain’. Every year about 10,000-15,000 icebergs form around the world.
