VALUING In your senior and college years of your studies and in your professional life, you will encounter new terms and new ideas and this lesson will be helpful for you not to be confused if there are words that you may not understand when you are reading, listening or conversing with others.
In communicating with others, it is important that we be careful with the words we use and be precise with what we mean. Choosing and using particular words in order to say or write about people or things around us will give clarity to what we want to express and it will be a form of respect as well.

1. It is important for us to practice proper hygiene, like washing of hands with soap and water or by using hand sanitizer or alcohol and by covering coughs and sneezes with the inside of your elbow or upper arm to prevent getting infected of the corona virus which according to WHO has no vaccine yet.
2. You often hear of the word, asymptomatic these days which from Covid glossary is said to be showing no symptoms of disease. A person infected with the virus can be asymptomatic because they are in an early stage of infection and symptoms have not yet developed (“ presymptomatic ”), or they may not develop any symptoms at all during their infection.
3. Health undersecretary, Dr. Maria Rosario Singh- Virgeire , reported that the country is starting to experience flattening of the curve that means slowing a virus’ spread to reduce the peak number of cases and related demands on hospitals and infrastructure. However, she warned of a resurgence of cases when the ECQ is lifted and people start being complacent about social distancing.
4. Patients are put in isolation when hospitalized during an epidemic by not allowing family members to stay to take care of them and be alone in a room or with other patients especially if they are suffering from a contagious disease.
5. Let us all heed the call for social distancing, a measure taken to reduce person-to- person contact in a given community, with a goal to stop or slow down the spread of a contagious disease. Measures can include working from home, closing offices and schools, canceling events, and avoiding public transportation.
