Chapter 1-On Violence Decolonization, the power structure, the political divisions in the society. Begins with the term ‘Decolonization” Decolonization is the liberation of a nation and the restoration of that nation to the people. -Franz Fanon

How decolonization happened? Decolonization w ill never be possible through “gentleman’s agreement “ and by shaking hands. Fanon says that decolonization will be possible only by violence.

W hat would be the mentality of the colonizer and colonized to the decolonization? Happy or sad? Colonizer will have the fear of Decolonization Colonized will have the desire for colonization

Colonial world is divided into two worlds Colonial World C o l o n I z e r C o l o n i z e d

What? Separates the colonizer from the colonized These two worlds are separated by soldier barracks and police station. Colonizer separated the world of colonized from theirs using violence ,ammunition and weapons.

Do they have equal status?

‘Manichaean’ World Manichaean is a P ersian religion found during 3 rd century. This religion is concerned with struggle between good and evil. Fanon uses Manichaean as an analogy for colonialism. After decolonization the colonizers are welcome to co exist with the colonized. But the colonizer always want to be first and they never wanted a secondary status.
