Freyr

1. Freyr Freyr is one of the most important gods in the Norse mythology , he was the main fertility god . That means he is in charge over the vegetation and the human ability to have children. For ordinary people, who lived by earth resources he was the most important god. He also decided over the rain and the sunshine.

2. The Story The Icelandic books to Edda and Prose Edda, Freyr is presented as one of the Vanir, the son of sea god Njörðr, brother of the goddess Freya. The gods gave him Álfheimr, the realm of the elves, as a teething present .

3. The End Of The Story The most extensive surviving Freyr myth relates Freyr's in love with the women Gerðr . Eventually she becomes his wife but first Freyr has to give away his magic sword which fights on its own.

4. How we recognize him There are little statues preserved in which Frey has a big penis. This symbolizes fertility .
