3. Introduction Friedel –Craft acylation involves the formation Of new C-C bond between a benzene ring & an acyl group . This means that in friedel –craft’s acylation reaction when benzene reacts with acyl chloride (acetyl chloride) in the presence of Lewis acid catalyst, it gives acylbenzene ( acetophenone )
