FUN WITH SHAPES
CLASS 1 & ABOVE
PRIMARY

A shape is the outer form
of an object or figure
such as circle, rectangle,
square,
triangle,pentagon etc.
There are all kinds of
shapes all around us – in
the sky, in the sea, on the
ground, and in our homes
Knowledge about shapes
is important to design and
provides structure for
creative thinking .

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
The children will recognize the
shapes circle, square, rectangle,
and triangle by sight.
The children will practice
drawing circles, squares,
rectangles, and triangles.
Children will start drawing
objects of different shapes,draw
patterns,create more and more
rangoli designs and geometrical
designs.
Children will correlate the
objects in the environment
with the shapes they have
learnt.
Children will recognize
different shapes in nature like
leaves,flowers,fruits etc.
The rangoli,kolam and mehendi designs
provide excellent practise of
geometrical concepts like dots,line
segments,curves,and different shapes.
All these will increase children’s interest towards Mathematics.
Children realize that shapes make life brighter.
