DEFINITION OF KEY TERM Guidance is a process of helping every individual, through his/her own effort to discover and develop his/her potentialities for their own personal happiness and social usefulness. Counseling is essentially a process in which the counselor assists the counselee to make interpretations of facts relating to a choice, plan or adjustment which he needs to make.

Functions of guidance and counseling Adjustmental They help the student in making the best possible adjustment to the current situation in the educational institution in the home and the community. It enable the student to accept the things which they cannot change in life and differentiate what they can change and cannot change in life. Orientation They orient the student in the problem of cancer planning, educational programming and direction towards long term personal aims and values. Developmental It is concerned with helping the people to achieve self development and self realization.

CONCLUSION Therefore , after reviewing the above-given points, it is clear that: G uidance and counseling are two different terms. The guidance aims at giving solutions while counseling aims at finding problems, working over it and then resolving it. However, both the process attempts to solve the problems of the  client whereby the participation of both client and the expert should be there .
