What is School Development Planning? SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT PLANNING Maria Soledad A. Conche

Governance of Basic Education Act of 2001 (RA 9155) mandates the State to empower schools and learning centers to make decisions on what is best for the learners they serve.

Concept: It is a road map that sets out the changes a school needs to make to improve the level of student achievement, and shows how and when these changes will be made.

Concept: Provides the basis for school improvement and should reflect the school’s philosophy and vision.

Concept: It is essentially a systematic, ongoing and collaborative process that draws the whole school community together in shaping the school’s future.

Purpose of School Development Plan To contribute to the continuous improvement of the quality of learning and teaching through a process of regular and ongoing planning, evaluation and review.

To provide a mechanism for systematic self-evaluation that enables the school community to review its progress, identify priorities, and prepare plans for further improvement.

Opportunities to engage in collaborative policy-making, planning and teamwork and to participate in the leadership and management of development work.

To strengthen the partnership between staff, parents, pupils and the governing body. To improve Access, Quality, and Governance.
