Aksarajskij (Аксарайский), former town (посёлок городского типа), S Astrachanskaja oblast’,
48 km N of Astrachan’, 46º47′15″N, 48º01′15″E. Population: (2002) 3,338; (2010) 1,225; (2016)
342. Aksarajskij was incorporated as a town in 1982, but lost its town status in 1987. The
settlement was liquidated in 2016; it consisted entirely of dilapidated and temporary houses.
Allaicha (Аллаиха) (Allajcha, Аллайха), former village, NE Respublika Sacha (Jakutija), just S of
Čokurdach, approx. 70º31′N, 147º50′E. Population (1948): 500-2,000. Allaicha was abandoned in
the 1950s(?).
Almaznyj (Алмазный), former town (посёлок городского типа), W Rostovskaja oblast’, 8 km
E of Gukovo, 48º03′N, 40º02′E. Population: (1959) 6,267; (1970) 8,615; (1979) 7,526; (1989)
6,182; (2002) 3,085. Almaznyj was incorporated as a town in 1958. The town became part of the
city of Gukovo in 2004.

Arbatskij (Арбаатский), former town (посёлок городского типа), W Sverdlovskaja oblast’, 22 km
NNW of Kušva, 58º27.5′N, 59º36.5′E. Population (1959): 2,193. Arbatskij received town status
in 1940. The town was abandoned in January 1969.
Artëmovskij (Артёмовский), former town (посёлок городского типа), S Primorskij kraj, 12 km
E of Artëm, 43º22′N, 132º19′E. Population: (1959) 6,965; (1970) 7,175; (1979) 8,921; (1989)
10,123; (2002) 9,728. Artëmovskij received town status in 1954. The town became part of the city
of Artëm in 2004.
Aše (Аше), village, S Krasnodarskij kraj, 55 km NW of Soči, 43º57′N, 39º16′E. Aše became
part of the city of Soči on 10 Feb. 1961 (along with the villages and towns of Adler, Chosta,
Dagomys, Golovinka, Kudepsta, Lazarevskoe, Loo, Magri, Makopse and Mamajka).
Aviagorod (Авиагород), former town (посёлок городского типа), W central Leningradskaja
oblast’, 14 km S of Sankt-Peterburg (then Leningrad) city centre, 59º49′N, 30º18′E. Aviagorod
was incorporated as a town on 10 Oct. 1937. The town became part of the city of Leningrad on
7 Oct. 1938.
Babuškin (Бабушкин), former city (город), central Moskovskaja oblast’, 13 km NNE of Moscow
city centre, 55º52′N, 37º40′E. Population: (1926) 15,634; (1939) 70,465; (1959) 113,919. Babuškin
was incorporated as a city on 17 Aug. 1925, and was named Losinoostrovsk (Лосиноостровск)
until 1939. The city became part of Moscow on 18 Aug. 1960 (along with the cities of Kuncevo,
Ljublino, Perovo and Tušino, the towns of Beskudnikovo, Birjulëvo, Kapotnja,
Krasnooktjabr’skij, Krasnyj Stroitel’, Lenino, Ljublinskij, Nagatino, Nikol’skij, Novo-Chovrino,
Novo-Kuz’minki, Očakovo, Saburovo and Vagonoremont, and several villages).
