Hardware and software
•Information systems are made up of two main elements
–Hardware and Software.
•The software is the programs that make the information
system work and the data that has been stored.
•The hardware is the equipment that you need to
construct the information system.
‘If I can touch it, it is hardware; if I
cannot touch it, it is software’

Peripherals
•Every piece of hardware that is attached to a computer
in some way is called a peripheral device.
•This even includes items of hardware such as the hard
drive that are built into the computer.
•All peripheral devices fall into one of three categories:
–Input devices
–Output devices
–Storage devices
