GCSE Languages (Revised)
Speaking Tests: Summer 2019
Support Events – Autumn 2018

GCSE Languages: Speaking
Background
•Up to 2018, centres used the ePortfolio application to upload a
sample of speaking tests for moderation
•With the recent revision of specifications, speaking tests will now
be examined, and centres are required to provide speaking tests for
all candidates
•This change necessitated a new resource for centres, replacing
ePortfolio, which only allowed for ‘one at a time’ upload of files
•Following consultation with a group of teachers and development
throughout 2018, eSubmission has been created to facilitate easy
upload of multiple files from centres to CCEA

unusual information
Only lead teacher can see progress of uploadsTeachers can see overall progress of uploads, as
well as within any groups (if set up). Exams Officer

Support & Guidance
•Examinations Officers will register users to use eSubmission;
•Discuss as departments who should be registered to use the
system, and who will act as Lead Teacher;
•Registered users will be able to log in to eSubmission before the
speaking test upload period begins. We recommend users do this
to check entries are correct and to set up groups if doing so;
•Further guidance for users will be available on GCSE Languages
microsites in early 2019;
•CCEA’s Operations Modernisation team is available to answer
any eSubmission queries. Contact Donna Mullan or Craig Burns
