5. Key Challenges & Learnings Challenges IMPORTANT – Get business to define problems ( not the IT team) !! SAP has already solved the ERP processes, no need to re-invent !! SAP BTP has 60+ services available that can automate plenty of scenarios natively SAP is the repository of data, in scale of terabytes, an untapped potential for Machine Learning and GenAI training Customer data is sensitive and almost every customer has strict security policies for accessing and retrieving this dataset For AI, basic use-cases are available that closely overlap with AWS offerings Learnings Do not combine an AWS transformation journey with a GenAI enablement journey, both are complex, and both need time to derive values. However, both can happen in parallel in different projects Create smaller business problem and solution prototype to derive value out of AWS services usage ( for example in combination with SDK) Combine multiple smaller scenarios to create an end-to-end business process optimization model

Security Challenges with GenAI and SAP on AWS SAP data is not allowed to be exposed or copied over to other platforms Data upload is a pre-requisite for generating better outcomes from machine learning models SAP and AWS have security tools solves the problem but most of the times this is not even evaluated !! Leverage SAP application security to only expose data that is relevant for training, for example, inventory reports. Leverage AWS security to ensure that S3 buckets used for Staging data are strictly internal Networking features, including PrivateLink , ensures that none of the traffic between SAP and native services need to traverse internet

7. SAP and AWS – Offerings for GenAI & ML Use-Case AWS Service SAP BTP Service How to Choose One ? AI/ML Platform Amazon Sagemaker , Amazon Bedrock SAP AI Core, SAP AI Launchpad AWS service if there are model specific use-cases, SAP service when customer is keen on native service-based data security Natural Language Processing Chatbots Amazon Q Joule Amazon Q can variety of data and is suitable for generic non-SAP use-cases, Joule is focused on solving SAP specific scenarios and closely integrated to SAP use-cases Storage S3 BLOB Object Store Eventually S3 is used, however its wrapped over with SAP Object Store for closer integration to SAP BTP Application Development Plenty of services , IDEs, languages available Key focus on enterprise and business users and ABAP programming AWS services are preferred except if close integration and SAP use-case Summary - Usage of AWS Services is more popular while usage of SAP services is gaining momentum for SAP specific scenarios
