7. As a child his dad favored his sister over him, grew a resentment to girls Sexual pleasure, was into bondage at a young age. Motives

8. He obtained his victims easily, as he was a police deputy . He would usually pick up the girls while they were hitch hiking. He would bound them to a tree then rape them before killing them. He would always keep the victims jewelry. Methods and rituals

9. While on patrol he picked up two teenage girls, who were hitchhiking. He took them to some remote woods and tired them to a tree and threatened to kill them or sell them as prostitute however he got a call on his police radio and had to leave them there but planed to return. The girls escaped and went to the police. Gerard told the police he was just trying to teach the girls a lesson about hitchhiking. They did not believe him and he was stripped him of his badge and charged with   false imprisonment and   assault. Getting caught

10. After posting bail, Schaefer was released. Two months later, on September 27, 1972, Schaefer abducted, tortured, and murdered Susan Place, and Georgia Jessup, and buried them on Hutchinson Island. The police got a search warrant for his home and found lurid stories he had written that were full of descriptions of the torture,  rape and murder of women Getting caught

11. Schaefer was charged with the murders of Place and Jessup. In October 1973, he was found guilty and given two life sentences. Authorities soon stated that he was linked to around 30 missing women and girls. Charges

12. On December 3, 1995, Schaefer was found stabbed to death in his cell. He had been killed by fellow inmate  Vincent Rivera. Death
