Giraffe Physical Characteristics A male giraffe weighs about 3,500 lbs and a male giraffe is 18 ft in size. A female giraffe weighs 1,800 lbs. and a female is 14 ft. in size. A giraffe’s color is light tan and black. A giraffe’s body covering is usually have a tan base with a reddish brown blotches. A giraffe breathes in oxygen like we do. A giraffe’s color is light and black.

Habitat A giraffe lives in on the savanna in Africa. They travel miles to get food. They run as fast as 35 miles/hr. A giraffe migrates.

Food Giraffes are herbivores. They eat leaves - hundreds of leaves each week.

Protection Giraffes defend themselves against predators by kicking with either the fore or hind feet.

Unique or Different Characteristics: Giraffe are born alive. A giraffe can have only have 1 baby at a time.The baby giraffe is called a calf. An unusual fact about giraffes is that it is the tallest mammal on earth.

Endangered? The Rothschild giraffe is endangered but all the other giraffe species are not.

Conclusion A giraffe rarely fights. I like giraffes! That’s what I like giraffe’s.
