Organic Dye Research Paper
Any grocery store you walk into you can see a wide variety of colors, but the sad
fact is most of which are most likely artificially made. He in the United States we
use about fifteen million pounds of artificial colors in our food, hair products, and
even vitamins. We started using dyes in our food in the mid 1800s when Henry
Perkin made the first synthetic organic dye, now we are mass producing the dyes and
the industry is booming at an alarming rate. These dyes are now in most of our
foods; wether it be candy, chips, and juices. These fascinating colors may be
attractive to the eye; but they have no real benefits in our food, they can be extremely
harmful to your body, and there are plenty of natural alternatives.
There is no real reason why the FDA has approved some of these artificial food
dyes to be in our food. They have absolutely no value to our bodies whatsoever.
Whatever dye it is, none of them have nutritional value. The FDA actually stated on
the website that they are only there to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These natural dyes come from fruits and vegetable and are good for your body.
They may not be as vibrant as the artificial ones, but they still look very appetizing.
Not only are there substances for every dye, but there are many different sources for
one color of dye. Lets say we want to put a yellow dye in our macaroni and cheese;
instead of a petroleum based dye we can use carrot powder, saffron, ground
turmeric, and even paprika. The color combinations you can create are virtually
endless! Using natural substitutes is the healthier choice in the long run. These
natural substitutes carry a variety vitamins and minerals that can help keep your
body strong. Although these are a better choice then artificial dyes, they still have a
downfall. These colorants are foods themselves too; so if you use a lot of these
colorants, you could alter the taste of the food you are
Thomas Jefferson Quotes
Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal;
nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude (Thomas Jefferson)
Brainy Quotes). Thomas Jefferson was a great known man. He was a man with great
integrity and intelligence. he has help the United States rise higher than we could

the one who purchased the Louisiana state (Biography).

Boston Marathon Bombing Essay
Boston Marathon Bombing On April 15, 2013 during the Boston Marathon in
Copley Square, two bombs exploded near the finish line killing at least three and
injuring over 170 people. This bombing sent the nation in an uproar and it was
immediately recognized as a terrorist attack. When the Federal Bureau of
Investigation took over, a few days later a surveillance video and photographs of the
two suspects were released. After the suspects were named, Dzhokar Tsarnaev, 19,
and Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, the violence began. On Thursday, April 18, three days
after the attack, a Massachusetts Institute of Technology police officer, Sean A.
Collier, was found dead in his vehicle near the MIT campus. According to police, that

It also struck me when I saw that they had planned another bombing in New York,
this interested me especially since it is so close to home. Now there are reports
that the attack was supposed to be done on the Fourth of July. This raises curiosity
about security during the holiday and if we will all be safe. I believe that everyone,
at the time, was worried about there safety and anyone would have chose this topic
to do research on since it was still in the public eye. I learned quite a bit about the
psychological impact of the Boston Marathon Bombing. After researching the
effects, I realized how much trauma these innocent people went through during a
moment that was supposed to be joyous. People that were healthy and filled with
life were either severely injured or had there life taken away by a senseless act.
Some of the injured victims will never be able to walk again, others, never able to
see their loved ones again. Martin Richard, an 8 year old boy whose life was taken
during the attack, will never get to see his family one more time. The amount of
grief the Tsarnev brothers caused can never be taken back and it has left a
psychological effect on the viewers and the victims runners, adults and children.
Viewers across the nation are affected by the social media causing stress on the
subject by bombarding the public with media stories, rumors and a sense of mass
panic . Victims have to relive that horrible moment because the media wants to
Endangerment Of Dolphins
The Affect Gillnetting Has on The Endangerment of Dolphins
Many issues with very few solutions are causing endangerment to Dolphins. The
biggest issue causing such endangerments to this species is the issue of fishing.
Fishing of Dolphins has been overlooked by many people who had no clue Dolphins
were an endangered species or the fact they were even a species that was fished for by
fishermen. Humans have been the biggest impact on their endangerment due to fishing
. While regulations have been put on fisherman, many happen to overlook the rules
and continue to fish for what they want to fish for. The government knows about
these fishermen but does nothing to stop them. If there were more regulations on
fishing in the waters and the fishermen and other people listened to these regulations
on fishing, Dolphins and many other species could have a chance for survival. There
are many strategies of fishing but one of these strategies has made a huge impact on
their endangerment. A specific fishing strategy called gillnetting has become illegal
in many different regions and countries due to species endangerment. Even though
gillnetting is illegal, it does not stop fishermen from gillnetting. The Hector, Baiji,
Maui and Indo Pacific Humpback Dolphins are just some of the few types of
Dolphins who are on the endangered list due to gillnetting in the waters around the
world. The only solutions that have been thought of so far have been the government
regulations on fishermen.
Evil Vs Evil
Why? is a common response to most suffering, pain, loss, and problem caused by
evil. An important human aspect is that upon suffering humans always demand a
response which perfectly answers this major problem of evil. However, one needs
to understand that God chose not to give an answer to every question one may have.
All this been said, Specific Evil as the Result of Specific Sins, Godas the Victim of
Evil, and The Life Hereafter are extremely important themes to answer not in a
perfect way the problem of: Why God allows evil to exist in the world? An important
question that cannot be ignored is how the Christian faith handles faith through
suffering with friend, neighbors, family members and society as a whole. It is due to
faith, love,

Auxiliary Verbs Auxiliary, or helping verbs, are used before infinitives to add a
different meaning. For example, you use auxiliary verbs to say: that someone is able
to do something, that someone is allowed to do something, or that someone has to do
something. The helping verbs are can, could, would, should, ought to, will, shall,
may, might and must.

The success of any industry depends to a great extent up on the quality of human

provides employment to skilled, semi skilled and unskilled workers directly and

development of tourism. International tourism is a relatively new phenomenon and
therefore the lack of managerial capability exists at all levels of the industry.
In particular, the rapid expansion of hotels of an international standard in the region
is creating a high level of demand for skilled and experienced staff. The nature of the
decisions facing hotel management is continually expanding. For their business to
remain competitive, managers must be skilful in many diverse areas. For instance,
they must possess a good understanding of how current events and the economy
affect the market and develop skill in marketing their products. They must also strive
to keep up with the technological innovations in the operational side of the industry.
As part of the service industry, tourism is labor intensive and generally requires well
developed social and language skills in a cross cultural working environment. These
demands have placed considerable strain on small, independent operators, who cannot
rely on the broad management expertise available to their multinational hotel chain
competitors.
The availability of skilled and trained manpower is a crucial element in the successful
long term development and sustainability of a tourist
A Study On The Classroom
Alina was observed during the morning in her third grade class. At the start of the
observation, Alina appeared focused and engaged as she worked independently on a
math assignment. After a few minutes, Mrs. Hippchen, Alina s third grade teacher,
reviewed the math answers to the class. As Mrs. Hippchen reviewed the answers
and called upon students to provide answers, Alina appeared focused as she listened
and wrote on her math worksheet. She occasionally looked over at a peer s paper
during the activity. When Mrs. Hippchen asked the students to raise their hands if
they obtained the correct answerto a question, Alina raised her hand. At one point,
Alina was called upon to solve a math problem. She incorrectly answered the
question, however, with her teacher s feedback, she was able to correct her answer.
Mrs. Hippchen then instructed the class to clear their desks to start a new math
activity. Alina followed her teacher s direction. As Mrs. Hippchen reviewed a math
homework assignment to the class, Alina followed along appropriately. When the
students were asked to draw a diagram to aid them in solving a problem, Alina
appeared engaged as she drew on her paper. After the homework review, Mrs.
Hippchen instructed the class to take out their math workbooks. Alina followed her
teacher s direction as she cleared her desk and pulled out her math workbook from
her cubby. As Mrs. Hippchen taught the math lesson, Alina wrote in her workbook,

St. Thomas Aquinas
Saint Thomas Aquinas was a philosopher, theologian, Doctor of the Catholic
Church, and is the patron saint of Catholic Universities, colleges, and schools. He
was born in Rocca Secca, Italy, in 1225 and was born into a wealthy family. He
even was related to the kings of Aragon, Castile, and France. His journey into
Catholic beliefs seemed predestined, for he was told when he was a young child that
he would become a friar and no one would be equal to him. He started his questioning
of faith and religion when he was a youngster, frequently asking his teachers, What is
God? Saint Thomas was a panentheist, meaning that he arrives through logical

4) Therefore, there must be an uncaused first cause called God. The third manner of
Aquinas support of God was that there are two types of beings, contingent beings
(humans) and a necessary being (God). Saint Thomas believed that this necessary
being (God), was necessary for the contingent beings (humans), to exist and without
God, we humans would not exist. The easiest way to explain this very confusing
subject would be as follows: 1) Contingent beings are caused. 2) Not every being can
be contingent. 3) There must exist a being that is necessary to cause contingent
beings. 4) This necessary being is God. Saint Thomas Aquinas fourth argument of
the presence of God came from his observations of the quality of objects. For
example one may say that of two paintings one is more beautiful than the other. So
for these two objects, one has a greater degree of beauty than the next. This is
referred to as degrees or graduation of a quality. From this fact Aquinas concluded
that for any given quality (e.g. goodness, beauty, knowledge) there must be a perfect
standard by which all such qualities are measured. These perfections are contained
and reflected in God. God is the ultimate and everything is insufficient compared to
His greatness. The final way that Saint Thomas Aquinas speaks of God s existence
has to do with the observable universe and the order of nature. Aquinas states that
common sense tells us that the universe works in such a way, that
The Glass Cage By Nicholas Carr
Essay #1: The Glass Cage We live in the age of constant technological innovation and
endless information; in which we are so connected and dependent on the technology
we use that we sometimes don t even realize how much we re relying on it. In The
Glass Cage by Nicholas Carr, Carr defines automation as, the use of computers and
software to do things we used to do ourselves, and argues that there are daunting
consequences to our reliance on technology (Carr 1). In his book, Nicholas Carr sets
up three arguments related to automation, tacit knowledge, and the idea of work. His
main arguments throughout the novel are that humans are overestimating the
benefits of automation, losing tacit knowledge through our reliance on technology,
and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Again, he argues that instead of automation replacing the work we had before,
technology is actually changing the way we work. This leads into the final point
Carr makes in chapter one that automation is changing society s perception of
work and leisure. Many people would agree that work is not pleasurable and
humans like leisure. However, Carr argues that, thanks to our bias for leisure over
work, ease over effort, we overestimate automation s benefits (19). Not only does
he argue at the end of the chapter that most people are searching for a blend of life
and work, but also he argues that people actually enjoy work over leisure because of
the sense of accomplishment and productivity they feel afterwards. Carr argues that
we overestimate the benefits of technology, when it may not even be what we really
want as human beings. Furthermore, the his skeptical beliefs regarding automation,
tacit knowledge, and work versus leisure are central to his argument throughout this
entire book. Are humans facing the degeneration effect due to our reliance on
technology? Carr would argue in chapter four that yes, we are losing creativity and
knowledge of work because we are not actively using our memory and cognition.
When humans typically learn a new skill, the generation effect
My Big Decision
My Big Decision
Every day, from the minute we wake up, till the time we go to bed, we are faced
with choices. The choices we face on a day to day basis range from getting out of
bed and starting our day, to investing our hard earned money into buying a new car
or house. We make so many choices in just one day and most of the time we don t
even ponder the decisions we end up making. Recently, in the past year, after being
involved in an automobile accident I was faced with, what seemed to be a very big
decision. This very big decision was whether or not to move back to Cleveland after
living on my own for five years. I pondered this choice for a very long time and in the
process many thoughts crossed my mind. I had a considerable ... Show more content

Upon moving home I left all my friends and at that time many of my friends from

Leonardo And Eyck Similarities
The Renaissance was from the late fourteenth century to the late sixteenth century. The
word Renaissance means rebirth in French. In this period of the arts, the paintings
dramatically improved. The individuals changed from flat two dimensional people to
three dimensional, life like figures. During the Renaissance, there were many artists
including Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Jan van Eyck.
Leonardo da Vinci was an Italian painter who lived from 1452 to 1519. Although
generally known as a painter, Leonardo was also a superb inventor. He designed a
rectangular parachute, crafted a silver lyre, and sketched rapid firing cannons.
Surprisingly, he recorded over five thousand pages of notes from many different
topics including anatomy and flight. Because he took such a great interest in
learning and experiments, Leonardo did not complete many paintings. Sadly, he
completed less than twenty works. His most famous painting was the Mona Lisa.
Toward the end of his life, Leonardo da Vinci later traveled to converse with French
King Francis I, and da Vinci died there at the age of sixty seven.
Michelangelo also was an Italian artist. He lived from 1475 to 1564. Because he
preferred to work alone, Michelangelo refused to have apprentices. Although one of
his most famous works is the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, he preferred to sculpt. At

many portraits and even traveled to Portugal in order to paint King Philip I s future

Unsurprisingly, it is a double portrait of Giovanni di Nicolao Arnolfini and his wife.
Jan van Eyck included many symbols in this painting, including the dog and the
shoes. The dog represents fidelity and the cast off shoes allude to holy ground. Jan

The Invention Of The Television And Internet
What exactly is remix? Remix is the creation of a new or derivative piece of art
through the alteration, modification, or transformation of elements of the original.
A remix is a piece of art that may have had items added, appropriated, or removed.
Remix is everywhere and is nothing new in public space. People have been doing
it for hundreds of years by altering paintings and other artistic art pieces. The advent
of new technology and different forms of media have allowed people to remix in
entirely different ways, utilizing new techniques, materials, and ideas. The
popularization of the television and Internet has allowed digital forms of remix,
previously impossible or only attainable for a small niche of the public. Though
Banksy, Electronic Disturbance Theater, and the Yes Men group have taken
advantage of digital forms of remix through different means, the Yes Men group
has remixed public space the best. Artists often put their work in the public
domain or space, but what exactly is that? Public space is just that, locations
accessible to the public with the most general being out on the streets, places
accessible or viewable to anyone without discrimination. They are visible to
anyone who has the means of getting to the place, charges no fees, and is open to
everyone. This type of space encompasses sides of buildings exposed to the street,
parks, and open spaces such as plazas. Another type of public space includes
privately owned public spaces. These types of
The Effects Of Trigger Warnings On Others People
In our world some people forget that when they say something that is normal for
them, it can have a strong emotional effect on others people. This world that we are
living in has many horrible experiences that some people go through, and they live
with it. Some forget about it and live a happy life, but other people will never forget
what they had in their life. For those people, the topic about their bad experience can
have a strong emotional effect. Sometimes the speaker is not connected to the topic

Russia. Many of my friends are fighting for Ukraine land and for me to hear that I

all people because it can mean that somebody calls them in a way that they don t
want to be called. To me, it still happens that some people call me Russian, but I

A Snapshot Of The Village Life During Bronze Age Vietnam
Dongson Drums: A Snapshot of the Village Life in Bronze Age Vietnam
Thesis Statement: Although many scholars believe that the feathered figures on the
drums are depictions of ancestor figures, ethnographic evidences from the Karen s
use of the drum and the Toraja s funeral rites suggest that the images engraved on the
drums are mere portrayals of village life in Dongson.
Located in the Hong (Red) River valley, the Dongson society is said to be highly
dependent on water for agricultural purposes. Some examples of images on the drum
that portray farming activities include villagers pounding rice with hand pestles and
water buffalos working the fields. In his article, Bernet Kempers offers ethnographic
evidence to the use of kettledrums by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The rice harvest usually is situated before the ceremonies to provide more food to the
attendees. Processions accompanied by rhythmic sound of gongs are also involved in
moving a tau tau from one place to another. From these, similarities of the Toraja
funeral ritual to the images on the Dongson drums are quite apparent. The images
of houses on stilts with boat shaped roofs seen on some Dongson drums are similar
to the clan houses at Tana Toraja. A large number of livestock animals such as pigs,
water buffalos, and goats are also depicted on the drums. As mentioned before,
activities related to rice harvest such as pounding of rice are portrayed. Rhythmic
drum accompaniments and feathered dancers also appear on the tympanum of the
Dongson drum. In her article, Maria Christou affirms claims that the Toraja is closely
related to the Dongson. She states that most of the art produced by the Toraja
including beadwork, carving, textile, and painting reflects the designs of the Dongson
drums. Thus it is safe to say that the scenes on the Dongson drums may correspond to
ceremonial rites similar to Toraja funerals.
The real question that needs to be answered though are about the feathered human
like figures riding elaborately decorated boats, and whether or not they are ancestor
figures, which would indicate that the Dongson people are some kind of ancestor
cult. The popular opinion is that these feathered ancestors guide the deceased to
Comparing The Israelites And The Puritans
The Puritans believe they are morally superior to everyone else. The Puritans are
about to leave England. They are Israelites is what they are. They are fleeing Egypt.
Good Riddance! Next stop, land of milk/honey(4). Vowell uses a simile to compare
the Puritans to the Israelites in order to reveal how the Puritans consider themselves.
The Old Testament Israelites, references specifically the Israelites that escaped from
Egypt in the Book of Exodus. After the population of Jews in Egypt had become so
numerous the Pharaoh feared what they might be able to do and put them into
slavery. The Israelites eventually escaped Egypt by crossing the Red Sea and
eventually make it to land God had gifted them, the land of Canaan. The Puritans
compare to the Israelites because they too felt some religious persecution. Catholic
rulers like Mary I persecuted Protestants and had many executed. The Puritans also
flee from a land not as pure as themselves in order to start anew. Cotton himself tells
the Puritans that they are God s chosen, and America is their Canaan. The Israelites
inspire the Puritans to get away. The Old Testament Israelites are to the Puritans what
the blueswas to the Rolling Stones a source of inspiration, a renewable resource of
riffs(2). Vowell uses an analogy to compare two unlike things like Puritans and the
Rolling Stones. The blues is a genre of music originating in the Deep South of the
United States around the end of the 19th century. The emotion
The Debate on Abortion Laws in the United States
There are always a number of heated debates within the United States. These
debates area always a hot topic and very controversial issues. Due to how
controversial they are is why they become such largely debated topics with many
people having very different views on the specific topic. For example there is a
Democratic and Republican party in the United States people either stick with one
side or the other due to their beliefs and sometimes can be neutral or on the other
party s side for certain topics. Abortionis a very controversial topic as it always has
been all around the country but more specifically in the United States. There are
two sides to the debate those who believe abortion should be legal and their
organization is known as prochoice. On the other side there are the group of people
who believe that abortion should not be legal and reverse the laws from what they
are today this organization is known as prolife. It seems as though both of the
organizations are very extreme while there can be some people who a neutral and
believe in some ideas from the prochoice yet they also agree with some of the ideas
from prolife. The two sides to the debate on abortion are known as pro choice and
pro life although this topic is very controversial, today there is also a history of
abortion laws and a very important case known as Roe vs. Wade which played a
huge role in determining what laws on abortion are in the present. Additionally, the
case of Roe vs. Wade was a

The Marketing Of Promotional Culture
The following case study will evaluate the reach of promotional culture in relation
to my chosen artifact, one of the most popular luxury sport utility vehicles (SUV s)
on the market the Range Rover Sport. Promotion is all around us and some even
argue it is an unescapable aspect of our society. Society in the twenty first centruy is
known to be constructed off of promotion and commodification. In order to evaluate
the impact of promotional culture on my chosen artifact as well as on me as a
consumer, key concepts such as the society of the spectacle, aestheticization of
everyday life and luxurification will be contrasted, compared and analysed alongside
the artifact in order to show the unavoidable reach that promotional culture has on
consumers today.
The Range Rover Sport is one of the most popular luxury sport utility vehicles (SUV
s) in the world. Created by the motor British motor vehicle company Jaguar Land
Rover Limited the Range Rover Sport has been around since 2005. On the higher
priced end of the spectrum the 2016 sport model sells for around NZD $90,000.
Land Rover has sold upwards of 80,000 units per year in the last three years alone.
This high number of sales shows the Range Rover Sport has clear demand and
notoriety within its market and this is largely due to contemporary promotional
culture.
I chose the artifact of the Range Rover Sport model to analyse as it is something I
have aspired to own for many years. Analysing this artifact in relation to
Alcohol Consumption in the US Essay
Binge drinking and alcohol consumption amongst US college students and US adults

drinking in college students is wide spread and known to cause significant harms
and health hazards for the drinker. This has proven true and is a major problem
even on UNC Chapel Hill s campus. The amount of alcohol consumption on UNC
Chapel Hill s campus is nonsensical and has proven to be an extreme problem.
During the interview I posed a question to Ann Wooten, Head of Chi Omega

as bad as many may think, and what do you view as the major problem within Chi
Omega? She responded by saying, Yes, alcohol consumption at UNC Chapel Hill
has been a major problem and is creating an excessive amount of problems at the
university. The major problem within Chi Omega, as well as, all the other sororities
is the fact the girls are so adamant in trying to drink as much as the boys. This
creates even more problems because girls cannot consume as much as boys but they
feel like they can or should. This makes them drink excessively and generate harm to
themselves or others. With this statement she proves the point that binge drinking and

Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church, Under The Direction

In 1905, Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church, under the direction of Rev. L. L.
Downing, erected their persistently famous Stonewall Jackson memorial window.
Each Sunday, Fifth Avenue s pastor still preaches from the pulpit with this
picturesque image in the background, denoting the phrase, Let us Cross the River
and Rest in the Shade of the Trees. General Jackson was, of course, well known for
his devout Presbyterian faith. What may be most surprising to those unfamiliar with
Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church, however, is that it is a historically black
congregation. As a local historian has explained:

Flynt s work shows special interest in one man, Walter Lingle, but he attempted to
show issues such as child labor as having been of great concern to more than just
Lingle, a Presbyterian leader that arrived at Union Seminary in Richmond by 1911.
Shortly before Lingle s entrance into the Old Dominion, Flynt states that
Presbyterians had clearly opted for a mixture of spiritual and educational salvation.
Other writers of Presbyterian history have not been so interested in such themes,
however. Don K. Clements, speaking about much broader chronological implications,
has been especially critical of those who adopted a more progressive stance to
Presbyterianism. He stated:
The Southern Church saw herself as holding the Old School position, which gave rise
to the Southern Presbyterian distinctives. With the passing of the first generation of
leaders, the Southern Church was unable to replace them with men of equal
soundness and stature. The result is that the Southern Church lasted as a sound
denomination for seventy or eighty years, and then was taken over by the liberals in
the church. This was done very largely through the capturing of the educational
agencies of the church, the seminaries, the colleges, the publications and literature.
Still, others, including Darryl G. hart, have suggested that historians focus

Analysis Of Marble Chappe
Marble Champ by : Alessandra Bontomasi
Have you ever said to yourself I give up right away and don t even try? Well there
is a saying that is when you work hard it will pay off, and in the story Marble
Champ by Gary Soto the main character, Lupe Merdrano never stopped working
hard and it lead her to a big prize at the end. The reasons for this is that she was not
good at sports first, then she practiced and practised, then it all paid off in the future.
The first reason that hard work pays off is because in the beginning she was very bad
at sports. But the thing is she would say to herself, I will never be good at sports.
The first piece of evidence is that she can t run very fast, for example in the story
Marble Champ she would try and try to get her body to move faster in the fifty
yard dash and she would never beat anyone. So, this shows that she is not good at
sports because in most sports you need to run, skate or other movements that
involve your legs, also she is not very fast when using her legs. My second piece of
evidence is that she scored a goal for the other team, when playing soccer, by her
kicking it into her own teams net. This shows that she didn t even know which net
was and you need to know that to play a sport. My third example is that she can t kick
a ball in the right direction and can t kick it to well. This says that she really once
again doesn t know how to use her legs for the right purpose . Even if she is very
good at using her brain
Birth Order And Its Impact On Society
For centuries, one of the most curious stereotypes that have compelled most people
is the role birth order has on their personalities and lives. Is birth order necessarily
important? Does it honestly affect our personalities? Birth order has been
controversial issue since biblical times for example Cain and Abel and Jacob and
Esau. Psychologists have a lot of assumptions about how that individual behaves and
responds to life whenever a person is a first born, middle child, youngest child, or
only child. The questions remains, what difference does birth ordermake, and how
true is it that birth order can even have an impact? Theorist has looked at the
various studies regarding birth order most of which have used the example of the
Adlerian concept of birth order to suggest intelligence and personality type the
following paper will work to better understand if birth order makes a significant
difference in the outcome of an individual s life. Leman believes the key to sibling
personality discrepancies lies in birth order and how the parents treat their children
due to it. However, there are numerous psychologists responsible for the stereotypes
of birth order, and how it contributes to various personality types in the study. People
have distinctive traits that could be perceived of first, middle, youngest, and only
children. These distinctive traits are potentially affective in relationships with friends,
spouses, etc. The first born tend to have characteristics of being
Road King Trucks Case Analysis Essay
Abstract
This paper is an analysis of Road King Trucks new project which is introducing a new
product into its product line. I will decide whether run the project or not. Six issues
will be discussed as follows 1) importance of energy cost; 2) project s cash flows; 3)
cost of capital; 4) choose an engine 5) evaluation 6) accept or reject.
We should accept the project because of the positive NPV and high IRR. We will
gain $532 million in wealth which is a big money on the scale like this. The
company has a bond rating of AA that makes the risk relatively low. So we should
definitely say yes.

The land was accounted for opportunity cost. If we don t run the project, we can sell
it and earn $6 million right now.
Cost of Capital (see table 2) I used WACC as the discount factor, we expect the rate
of return to be higher than it, the same at least. The WACC reflects the average risk
and overall capital structure of the entire firm [2]. It s the required return and it
presents how much the company pays for the capital it finances. In this case, the
cost of equity is 10.33%, the cost of debt is 6.50%. I calculated WACC using those
numbers and got a result of 8.49%.
Choose an Engine (see table 3)
There are two options for engines will be installed on buses. And so are the
warranties. The decision should be made according to engines quality,
effectiveness, etc. But to investors, cost is the main factor. In this case, Detroit
engine has an installation cost of $20,000 and a warranty of $1,000 each year for 5
years; the cost of installation of Marcus engine is $2,000 less but the warranty is
$1,500 per year. To figure out the cost I calculated the NPVs of each year for 20
years. The NPVs of the warranties for each bus are same at the year it been produced.
For example, the warranty of a Detroit engine has a NPV of $4,276 in the year it
been produced. (This method is coming from Mr. Hasse. I used to combine the
warranty for each year and use those numbers in calculation.)
The NPV of installation cost and warranty of Detroit engine is $252,154,
Queen vs. Dudley and Stephens
Regina v. Dudley and Stephens
There have been many criminal cases in the history, which brought controversy,
whether murder could be justified under different circumstances. One of the famous
cases tells a story of four shipwrecked men, which were lost in the high seas. The
story was named The Lifeboat Case , regarding the tragic and life changing decision
that was made in extreme circumstance. Four seamen, Thomas Dudley, Edward
Stephens, Brooks and seventeen year old Richard Parker were in high seas and due to
the storm that hit them very bad, they had to put themselves into an open boat. They
did not have any supply of water and food, except 1 lb. tin of turnips. On the fourth

As the ship started to sink, men barely managed to get into a lifeboat and by the
time they were trying to save their lives, all of supplies of water and food were
gone. Professor Teuber clarifies it, saying: Unfortunately, the emergency supply of
water that they had hastily thrown overboard next to the dinghy was swept away
by the waves (people.brandeis.edu). Since Teuber acknowledged that Dudley was the
captain of the ship, it might also be the reason of why all decisions were made by
Dudley. He might have felt himself responsible for men s life and tried to save as
much as he could, by sacrificing one. One of the details Teuber mentioned was that
the rest of seamen were rescued by a German boat, called Montezuma , which was
heading home from South America. As soon as they delivered men to Falmouth
and started questioning them, it was clear that they have committed a crime.
However, Brook s name wasn t mentioned as one of the prisoners throughout the
story. And Teuber reveals the reason, saying: The upright Dudley immediately
insisted that he was the ringleader and that Brooks was completely innocent
(people.brandeis.edu). So that s why Brooks played as a prosecution s witness.
The most remarkable situation in this case, was the peace between Dudley and the
Richard s brother Daniel Parker. He even came to court and shook Dudley s hand.
By the way, the initials C.J stand for Chief Justice Lord Coleridge who refused to
recognize the prisoners case as necessity
The Complex And Interesting Optical Properties Essay
The complex and interesting optical properties can be shown clearly on
Nanostructured metals the collective oscillations of the conduction electrons
termed plasmons lead to most striking phenomenon encountered in these structures
are resonances . Plasmon modes exist in a number of geometries and in various
metals most importantly in noble metals such as gold, copper and silver. Under
certain circumstances plasmons are excited by light, which leads to strong light
scattering and absorption and an enhancement of the local electromagnetic field.
In 1989, based upon calculations, Neeves and Birnboim proposed that a composite
spherical particle with a dielectric core and a metallic shell could produce SPR
modes with a much larger range of wavelengths. The first nanoshells were made by
Zhou et al. In the 1990 s. They used a Au2S core surrounded by a gold shell.
Variations of these shells made it possible to shift the standard gold colloid plasmon
resonance peak from ~520 nm up to ~900 nm. There was a limit however, of less
than 40 nm on the size of nanoshell that they could achieve due to the chemistry of
their synthesis reactions. The process also produced large amounts of gold colloid
as a secondary product which gave an additional absorption peak at ~520 nm. Halas
and coworkers synthesized a new type of gold nanoshell that overcame many of the
limitations of the Au2S core type nanoshell. The new method replaced the Au2S core
with a silica core and made it possible to exert
John Locke s Influence On Government
With the heart of a new nation beating, the blood that flows through it is the
knowledge that has created it. John Locke s influential writing is the pulmonary
vein bringing air and life into the nation. This is seasoned with the ideas of Roman
Classical Republicanism, which are the chambers that keep the nation moving
forward. Though with any heart and colonial experiences coronary arteries have a
chance to be clogged and make the nation suffer. The lead up to America s birth is of
lesser significance than the core values that created it.
John Locke s writing is influential with the creation of the government that the
United States abides by. The natural rights that he preached showed that everyone had
basic inalienable rights such as life, liberty, and property(though ratified to
happiness). As shown in the constitution in the form of the Bill of Rights, the ten

Romans used small uniform communities to elect officials as their representatives.
By abiding with these small communities members of a political community must
be fundamentally the same. A system like this is seen in America with people
dedicating their lives to different political parties such as Republicans and
Democrats. This system is purposefully made inefficient as to work through all the
problems a specific idea had. Idea s of this sort can only be created with people
working together. Only through citizenship and civic virtue could the founding
fathers system hope to work. Having people not only work but dedicate to the greater
good of the community is how a system is created. As seen in modern America,
without a majority of the populace to vote, representatives that represent the whole of
America would not exist, cracking one of the many pillars that support America. The

Decarbonize Urban Areas
If we are going to decarbonise our cities and regions, we need to promote high
density urban development. Increasing density reduces the size of houses and overall
its consumption of resources (Rauland and Newman 2011). The authors further
contend, therefore that increasing density has numerous other benefits, including
enabling better public transport infrastructure such as light rail and trains as well as
increasing the walkability of cities, all of which will significantly reduce transport
emissions ( Rauland and Newman p. 6. 2011). Adding density to transform cities can
also improve quality of life by offering more local amenities and better lifestyles (
Rauland and Newman 2011). The Cockburn Town Centre development is perfect
example.
Senior Year Research Paper
Time flies by when you re having fun , I never thought this quote would mean so
much to me until now. This quote was repeated constantly my junior year and now

Load Optimum Mpls Routing With Routers And Links
Load Optimum MPLS Routing with Routers and Links (N+M)
ABSTRACT:
MPLS is now a days the most important thing in the intra domain routing (i.e.
routing in own domain or network). The main advantage of MPLS is the
flexibility it offers towards traffic engineering ex. To support higher demand
without overloading any links. Most of the major vendors are now offering MPLS
routers and many ISPs are deploying MPLS in their IP backbone as well as in
ATMs and frame relays. Because of this increase in transition to MPLS we are
required to increase our knowledge towards the importance and limitations of MPLS.

It can provide applications like Traffic Engineering, Quality of Service and Virtual
Private Networks. The packets in MPLS are directed through the network based
on an assigned label. The label is associated through the network with an assigned
path which allows a higher level of control on the packets than in packet switched
networks. MPLS routing allow differing QoS characteristics and priorities to be
assigned to particular data flows. Traffic Engineering explains the optimization of
fundamental abilities of the network [2]. Traffic Engineering is the process of
controlling how traffic flows through ones network so as to optimize resource
utilization and network performance [3]. It is performed by detouring the traffic to
paths that are lightly loaded in order to balance the load amongst the paths as per the
various calculated metrics. These can be divided as two types. They are state
dependent and time dependent. Both of them are focused to balance the traffic so
that they can avoid the congestion. State dependent policies change the traffic in
short time scale depending on different metrics calculated both online and offline of
the present traffic and the time dependent policies engineer it based on long time
scaling. Both these methods aim to balance the traffic so as to avoid the congestion.
The problem that we face while using previous MPLS routing solutions is that

Symptoms And Treatment Of Child Bearing Age
Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) affects the lungs, kidneys and lymphatic
system primarily in women of child bearing age. (Genetics Home Reference Staff)
This disease is so rare that statistics do not accurately reflect how many women or
persons suffer from LAM. Those that suffer from LAM are offered varied
treatments that assist in alleviating symptoms but there is no cure for this lung
disease. The origins of LAM are unknown and researchers are working to determine
the pathology of the condition. Women are primarily impacted during childbearing
years. Symptoms are normally noted after puberty and before menopause.
(Reviewed by Jennifer Robinson) Additionally, increased hormones during
pregnancy can exacerbate symptoms. (National Institutes of Health Staff) Less than
ten males have been clinically diagnosed with LAM. (Reviewed by Jennifer
Robinson) This sickness causes cells that edge the airways in the lungs and blood
vessels to multiply abnormally in the muscles that line the airways in the lungs and
blood vessels. These muscle cells aggressively spread into areas of the lung where
they don t belong. (Reviewed by Jennifer Robinson) These abnormal cells start to
develop out of control throughout the bodies organs and tissues, specifically the
lungs, and lymphatic system. (National Institutes of Health Staff) The lungs air sacs
swell creating small cysts. These cysts inhibit breathing and oxygen becomes limited
throughout the body. TSC is a genetic disease. The
Why Not to Ban Harper Lee s To Kill A Mockingbird
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee has been challenged/banned countless times
since it s original publication in 1960. The reasoning people could have behind
banning it is that they feel that the racism, language and subject matter in the book
is offensive, inappropriate, immoral and that it encourages and condones such
things. To Kill a Mockingbird takes place in Maycomb, a small town in Alabama,
during the depression from 1935 1937, and is told from the perspective of a little
girl named Scout. In the book Scout s father Atticus teaches her and her brother Jem
many valuable lessons. The things Atticus teaches Scout and Jem are things we all
need to know. To Kill a Mockingbird is an inspirational book that teaches valuable
moral values,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although there is a lot of foul language in To Kill a Mockingbird readers are not
encouraged to use that kind of language. Racial prejudice is another reason it could
be argued that To Kill a Mockingbird should be banned. Scouts father Atticus is a
lawyer, and he defends Tom Robinson, an innocent black man accused of raping a
white women. Everyone in Maycomb believes Tom Robinson is guilty solely
based off of the fact that he s black. Although Atticus knows that a jury would never
take the word of a black man over the word of a white man, he still does his best to
defend Tom Robinson. Atticus was able to show that Tom Robinson could not
have been the one responsible for beating Mayella, because she was beaten on the
right side of her face, meaning that someone who was left handed hit her. Tom
Robinson was crippled; he had no use of his left arm. Despite this and the fact that
there was no evidence that Tom Robinson raped Mayella Ewell the jury still found
him guilty. Obviously there is racial prejudice in this book, but it s definitely not
encouraged or condoned. Atticus believes that no matter what the color of your
skin you deserve the right to a fair trial, but despite his best efforts Tom Robinson
was not judged fairly by the jury. In his closing statement Atticus tells the jury that it
is believed that, all Negroes lie, are immoral and are not to be trusted around white
women (Lee 232). He then says that this is a lie, that some Negroes do

The Rodeo Horses running, bulls bucking, and flame throwing are all things that
you could see at a rodeo. When I was in the fifth grade I went to a rodeo with my girl
scout troup . We saved up for almost a whole year. We sold cookies, earned money,
and waited for the exciting weekend trip to A.J Ranch.
A.j Ranch is a beautiful place it has horses, stables, a rodeo arena, campsite and
much more. We stayed in a little cabin, in the woods on their property. It was really
small, there were four bunk beds, and a loft. Our troop leader Tabitha Amelia s
mom, and Emma s mom and Bella s moms stayed up in the loft, there was three
cots. Back on the main floor my troup (a total of 8 girls) slept in bunks. Hailee and I
shared a bunk. I slept on the bottom bunk , and Hailee on the top.
On the second night of our stay at A.j Ranch we went to the rodeo. A.j Ranch has a
lot of property, we had to ride a wagon from our cabin in the woods to the ranch
where the rodeo was being held.
On the other side of the ranch people were preparing for the rodeo, but first there
was a big BBQ. They roasted a gigantic pig over the fire. It looked delicious, and the
scent smelled so good that you wanted to eat it all. They had everything there, there
was a long line of tables full of food, just talking about this is making my mouth

1.The development of Conditions of Carriage for airlines.
Airlines, planes, and aircrafts are all words that are used to relate to air
transportation. Air transportations are a special service that is taken on air to reach
certain destinations around the world within hours. A service where our ancestors
would of surly preferred rather than walking and riding horses/ camels that will take

Website Comparison
Introduction I have chosen two of the biggest broadband and telecommunication
companies in Ireland for this website comparison. O2 and Vodafone are both leading
distributors of mobile services for individuals and corporate clients providing them
with solutions in communications. They are the two biggest competitors in the
mobile networking industry in Ireland constituting for 88% of the total market. This
market percentage is split between Vodafone and O2, 48% and 40% respectively.
I have chosen these two websites for comparison for a number of reasons. I have
been a frequent user of both sites, and am interested in the industry. The main reason
however I selected these websites is due to the substantial differences in theme and ...

On the shop page the user will be given 4 options to browse shop by phone, browse
by plan, purchase SIM only, or to go the O2 broadband section. Underneath these
options again are more offers specifying O2 s current most popular deals. The most
popular deals have clearly labelled prices on all of the phones. Browsing through
the shop is easy, and informative. The main specifications and advantages of each
product are clearly placed beside a picture of that product and the price is also
clearly labelled. If you actually select the phone the user is redirected to another
page which describes in depth specifications, main features and pricing plans. Some
of the specifications are interactive and offer a visual 3D experience where they can
rotate the phone with their mouse. This ensures that the user is confident with their
purchase. In some cases, demos are available to watch how the product operates.
Overall the shop provides some great interactive features and effectively utilises and
takes advantage the capabilities of Adobe flash player.
One of the more interesting features of the O2 website is its partner websites. From
navigating through the webpage there are often sections with links to some of O2 s
separate projects. Examples of these are 02thinkbig.ie where the user is redirected to

Similarities Between Adolf Hitler And The Third Reich
There is no question that Adolf Hitler and the third Reich used propaganda as a
way to facilitate war, mass murder, and persecution. The artistic approach of the
propaganda was so well orchestrated that they knew how to simplify a message in
such a way that it would actually play on people s emotions. In a sense they were
able to break down complicated issues into small slogan messages to influence the
people to keep Hitler in control.
The way that images were presented to the public gave insight into the minds of
the Nazis and how they were thinking. The images that were produced showed
them as heroic figures, and in general they had a way of making ads play on the
dissatisfaction of the status quo. It is what we would consider Niche Marketing
today. So in most cases the art showed women working in the house or farmers and
workers. Another large oddity was the use of the word freedom. Nazi s really had
no association to the word and yet it was used often. An additional repetitive use in
Nazi art was the color red. It was obvious that Hitler had a strong passion for the
color as it encompassed every swastika symbol, but there was however, an actual
purpose behind the color; it engaged an audience. The color red ... Show more content

He very much disliked and disapproved of modern art and music, which is why
those aspects were unfamiliar to the areas that he had controlled. In fact, all Hitler
wanted his art to reflect the scenes of a rural family or heroic German figures. He
pushed to paint a picture, one that the people could clearly see and believe, which
was that he was making Germany great. Hitler even went as far as to idolize himself
as a Godly figure. With the painting In the Beginning was the World whose title came
from a chapter in the New Testament of the Bible, shows Adolf Hitler as a messianic
figure instead of Jesus. Everything about the painting even the crowed within it, plays
on emphasizing Hitler s spoken word on
Benefits Of Data Coding Standards
Dr. Braunstein first describes in the lecture how data that appears to be simple may
actually be more complex to interpret when not coded in a similar manner such as
the case of gender and then also mentions, Imagine what happens with the concept
of a patient s diagnosis, which is inherently somewhat subjective, can have
thousands of possible values and as we ll see, can be described at varying levels of
detail (Braunstein, 2017). This identifies the need for data coding standards: to help
best interpret data among various systems. In the healthcare industry, data coding
standards are applied in numerous ways. The LOINCstandard may be applied while
collecting data for a medical test and analyzing it. The suggested medications may

There exists many data coding standards in healthcare. The ICD is the international
standard of the classification of diseases used by a multitude of healthcare
professionals ( International Classification of Diseases , 2016). Its latest version,
ICD 10, has numerous benefits including helping doctors more correctly report
conditions and differentiate payment by treatment type, more efficient disease
management, and helping to prevent fraudulent claims as a result (Schwartz,
2013). In terms of current use, more and more countries have used it for reporting
morbidity. In the United States, it has been the official standard for death
certificates since 1999 (Brouch, 2000). For the future, ICD 11 is stated to be
released to include recent advancements in healthcare and medicine and will allow
open access for editing ( International Classification of Diseases , 2016). LOINCВ®
is used to standardize data for laboratory and medical clinic measurements
(McDonald et al., 2003). Benefits include helping separate lab systems interpret
shared lab test data, improving the efficiency of ordering lab tests from many labs,
and also aiding in generating public health clinical data ( 3.2 Benefits of LOINC ).
Current usage is categorized into three areas: laboratory, clinical, and HIPAA

Research Paper On Dharavi
Dharavi
Dharvai located in Mumbai, is home to one of the largest slums in the world. The
slum was founded in 1882 during the British colonial era. The slum grew due to
growing factories and industries and due to the growing influx of migrants
Initially Dharavi was predominantly a mangrove swamp and was sparsely populated
by a Fisherman community called the Koli, and Dharavi came to be called Koliwadas.
During the 19th century, Mumbai s population reached half a million, 10 times the
population of London, at that time. Hence most parts of Mumbai suffered from acute
housing, water and sanitation problems. Residential areas were divided into 2 parts:
European and native residential quarters. Slums were meant for native Indian
population .Increase of urban growth under the East India Company and British Raj,
gave rise to slums, unsanitary conditions and epidemics. Concerned about epidemics
the British Government expelled polluting industries and Indian residents to the
village of Koliwadas. And, thus was born Dharavi
The first early settlers of Dharavi were people who worked with leather. Other
settlers included a large Gujarati community of potters known as the Kumbars,
embroidery workers from Uttar Pradesh and etc . These small scale industries grew

This scheme eliminated eligibility criteria for slum dwellers and provided benefits to

Transferable Development Rights (TDR) that gave developers the right to transfer
their profits under SRS to any other sites in the city. The area was increased to
225.sq.mts and the new accommodation was provided to the slum dwellers free of
cost. The performance of the schemes was not up to expectations. In the period of
1991 2000 only 346 units had been redeveloped (The Times of India, 2000). This

Essay about Prospera, Thy Role Is Woman
William Shakespeare, in his play, The Tempest, tells the story of a fictional exiled
Duke of Milan. In the original play, Shakespeare casts the duke as a man, Prospero.
In a modern movie version of the play, writer and director Julie Taymor casts the
duke as a woman, Prospera powerfully portrayed by the very convincing
performance of Helen Mirren. The play, surprisingly, requires only a few very
minor line changes to substitute a woman lead for the original male role. While the
actual dialogue changes are minor, the impact to the play is substantial as it totally
transforms the duke and an audience s prospective of the character. With very few
exceptions, having a woman as the Duke of Milan in Shakespeare s The Tempest,
makes the duke more... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first examples can be seen in Prospera s ouster and exile starting with how
apparently easily Prospera was usurped. It is clear Prospera had the support of her
people when she tells Miranda, so dear the love my people bore me (Shakespeare
1.2.141). If the duke had the support of the people and magical arts to manipulate
people and events, it seems unlikely a rightful ruler could so easily be usurped, but
it becomes more plausible in Taymor s version where the position was only
assumed by Prospera upon her husband s death. Given it was not originally her
position to begin with and the predominant acceptance of male leaders at that time,
it is much more realistic that a woman could be usurped by her brother. Similarly,
the fact that Prospera was not killed outright and that she was aided by Gonzalo
also becomes more believable with the duke being a woman. To kill an ousted
rival would seem of little consequence at the time if that rival were a man, but it
takes on a much less noble air if that rival is a woman, and Gonzalo s actions to aid
Prospera defying Antonio and the king become more believable as it is not only an
act of kindness, but also a chivalrous act.
In addition to Prospera s ouster and exile, other examples of where having a
feminine duke is more believable can be seen by her actions on the island. One of
the first is Prospera s treatment of Caliban. After
Minorities In Qualitative Research
The process in finding one s identity can be difficult, especially as there are many
factors that may alter an individual s actions or thoughts about themselves. After
deconstructing several articles by academic researchers it was evident that the process
of one s self identification stems mostly from the way in which we communicate and
interact with other cultures (also known as interculturalities). Each journal article
posed a different aspect to the research, while still showing patterns and overlap that
correlated with the results found in the other articles. The researched used different
methodologies in order to conclude with credible findings. The methodologies
included, interviews, questionnaires/surveys, case studies, online chats,... Show more

The most common debate between a minority group and a majority group are the
ideas around religion and it is Elyakim Kislev (2012) who argued that, [there are]
challenges faced by religious groups in a society with a non religious majority.
Throughout both McGraw Hill Higher Education s work (2004) and Elyakim Kislev
s (2012) research, the idea of a four step model was introduced. However, majorities
and minorities do not share the exact same steps, which can cause different outlooks
to arise. Minorities emerge with the four strategies/methods which include;
integration, also known as participation in the majority culture while still holding on
to their own, separation or rejection of the majority culture and only accepting their
own, assimilation or the rejection of their own culture and acceptance of the majority
culture and finally marginalization, which focuses on the rejection of both the
majority culture and their own. The majority on the other hand show the same
integration step (but participating or interacting with the minority group) and then are
followed by acceptance, resistance and then redefinition and reintegration (McGraw
Hill, 2004). Kislev (2012) argues that the most ideal model or step would be, solely
based on the acceptance of both cultures. Kislev s (2012) study also examined that the
ability to, [take] from both cultures [would] be enough to increase the emotional well
being and educational achievements of minorities. By acknowledging how different
people between the two classes (minority and majority) accept both their culture and
other cultures, it gives insight into how they may shape their identities and
ultimately, how they may treat

Philosopher King Pericles Research Paper
A philosopher king is a leader and is defined by one s virtues. The morals one holds
up is what separates them from a good philosopher king or not. Although Pericles
perseverance and sacrifice created a tyranny in Athens, Lycurgus sacrifice and
devotion transformed Sparta into a warrior state; therefore Lycurgus is a
philosopher king and Pericles is not. Pericles was hungry for power and with
perseverance and sacrifice he made the city fall to him. Pericles, finding himself
come short of his competitor in wealth and money... turned to the distribution of the
public moneys. (Page 208) Since he was so determined to win the people over, the
disadvantage of money did not stop him, which indicates that he would go to any

Central Auditory Processing Disorder
Except for outwardly appearances, speech may be the one of the most defining
elements of a person s identity, psychologists generally consider language a prime
manifestation of underlying cognitive processes (Solso, MacLin, MacLin, 2008, p.
468). Just by listening over the phone, I can tell whether a family member is feeling
positive, in ill health, or worried about events in their lives. Should vocal language be
the only measure of underlying cognitive processes?
As a small child, it was frustrating to not be able to make the adults in my life
understand me. Many years later after development of the brainstem auditory
evoked response test (BAER), a doctor who it seemed was always on the cutting
edge of his science and working with neurologists at the old Lovelace Medical
Center, tested my hearing using the BAER . For me, the results of this test were life
changing because for the first time in 28 years my not being able to understand much
of the conversation around me and consequently, my ability to communicate had a
name a diagnosis central auditory processing disorder I heard at two different speeds
and both were at a slower rate than that of the general population.
The BAER measures latency in milliseconds or in layman terms, the BAER measures
the length of time it takes for sound to travel from the ear to the brain stem (Ness,
2009). An important benefit of the BAER is that it can be easily used for diagnosis
of auditory processes in infants and young

Bipolar 1 disorder is when an individual has manic episodes that last at least 7 days
with manic symptoms that are so severe that the person sometimes needs immediate
hospital care. Depressive episodes occur as well, typically lasting at least 2 weeks.
Episodes of depression with mixed features, having depression and manic symptoms
at the same time, are also possible. Individuals with this form of bipolar experience
the most dramatic transitions from mania to depression, and mood swings can be
sudden and severe. The level of functional impairment is high with this form of the
disorder, and many of these individuals must be hospitalized in order to protect
their safety. Bipolar 2 disorder is when there is a pattern of depressive episodes and
hypomanic episodes. This type of bipolar is characterized by less severe variations
between emotional states. Depressive episodes may last longer and alternate with
periods of hypomania, a milder form of mania. While it may be easier to function
with this less severe form of the disorder, bipolar II can nevertheless interfere with
normal activities and cause functional impairment just like Bipolar 1 but it is less
severe. Cyclothymic Disorder is when a person has numerous periods of
hypomanic symptoms as well numerous periods of depressive symptoms lasting
for at least 2 years (1 year in children and adolescents). However, the symptoms do
not meet the diagnostic requirements for a hypomanic episode and a depressive
episode. Episodes of depression are generally not as long or as profound as they
are with bipolar I or II. Bipolar with mixed features is when someone experiences
symptoms of mania and depression at the same time. For example, the individual
may have elevated energy levels, sleeplessness, and appetite loss combined with
feelings of
Princess Of Mars
In the novel A Princess of Mars, I will be responding to Burroughs s
characterization of the green Martians in the novel A Princess of Mars which caught
my interest for some reason. John Carter; the hero in this story, first meets these
enormously tall green creatures when he first awakens on Mars after being
transported there from the cave. The green Martians are fifteen feet tall and have six
legs; two arms and two legs. John Carter calls them, hideous little monsters (15).
Burroughs s describes them with scrawny bodies and long necks. As Burroughs says
in the novel, There was no hair on their bodies, which were of a very light yellowish
green color. In the adults, as I was to learn quite soon, this color deepens to an olive
green
Animal Farm Movie And Book Comparison
The Russian Revolution inspired the book Animal Farm by George Orwell which
later became a movie. Based on Orwell s classic short story and the inspired movie,
Animal Farm consisted an abundant number of similarities as well as differences
in the categories of setting, characters, plot events, and resolution. First and
foremost, setting in the movie and original novel of Animal Farm provides many
similarities and differences. For instance, whenever the pigs who were somewhat
of the leaders of the farm wanted to hold a meeting for the farm animals, it would
always take place in the big barn:; the book and movie both portrayed the big barn
since it was one of the main scenes in the story. The location of where the two
versions of Animal Farm took place demonstrates one of the similarities of setting.

Moreover, in the middle of the story and the movie, a majority of the farm animals

which humans had lived, so the animals became curious about what was inside the
farmhouse. Later, the animals came to an agreement to explore inside the farmhouse
and so they went inside and found many new gadgets which they had never seen
before that intrigued and intimidated them. The animals, exploring the farmhouse

versions. According to Animal Farm, the speaker dictated, They tiptoed from room
