GOOD BEHAVIORS & BAD BEHAVIORS

How would you feel if someone is rude to you, and always speaks badly to you? How would you feel if someone pushed you out of the way to sit on the seat you were about to sit on? How would you feel if someone shared your things, but never shared anything of theirs? How would you feel is someone never said Please, excuse me or thank you?

These behaviours all come under BAD BEHAVIORS. GOOD BEHAVIOR is about considering the feelings of other people, and being the kind of people others will like and respect.

TREAT OTHERS THE WAY YOU WANT TO BE TREATED. If you show a good behaviour wherever you go, then you are more likely to encourage others to behave in the same way towards you.

WHAT ARE THE GOOD BEHAVIORS THAT WE SHOULD PERFORM IN OUR EVERYDAY LIFE?

1. Be Polite with everyone https://youtu.be/FP6_h9WfAUo Do you want to be like James? Do you want people to dislike you, just as people disliked James? It is very important to be polite with everyone, to treat everyone with respect.

2. Honesty is the Best policy https:// youtu.be/3F0WLIY0dLg Do you think Sumiti did the right thing by telling her teacher that she took the pen? Honesty is always the best policy. We all make mistakes, but accepting those mistakes truthfully is always the best thing to do.

3. Always wish each other. How many of you always wish each other when you come to school in the morning? It’s important to not only wish your teachers, but also your classmates, all your elders and everyone you meet. This is a sign of showing respect to people.

4. Helping each other & Sharing Story – John and Chris. What is the moral of the story? It is very important to help everyone. Only when you will help people, they will help you. If you come across a parent, a teacher, or a neighbour working on something, ask if you can help. If they say "yes," do so -- you may learn something new . When an adult asks you for a favour, do it without grumbling and with a smile

5. Words like THANK YOU, EXCUSE ME AND PLEASE & SORRY are very important. How many of us use these words when talking to people? When asking for something, say "Please . When receiving something, say "Thank you .“ Be appreciative and say "thank you" for any gift you receive . When you have spent time at your friend's house, remember to thank his or her parents for having you over and for the good time you had. If you bump into somebody, immediately say "Excuse me .“ Always say Excuse Me rather than pushing past someone. If you have done something wrong, immediately apologize say sorry.

6. Keep yourself Clean and Tidy Brush your teeth twice a day and bathe everyday Maintaining your personal hygiene is very important Comb your hair and wear clean clothes Before eating food, always wash your hands properly. While eating, use spoon and fork. Do not talk or speak while eating. Always keep a handkerchief and put your hand on your mouth when you sneeze or cough.

7. Never Harm others How many of you have seen kids harming other kids ? ( Hitting, saying bad words to others without any reason, teasing, name calling) Bullying – What do you understand by the term Bullying? It is Bullying when 1. One person is intentionally hurting or harming the other person with words or behaviour without any reason. 2. The behaviour is being done on purpose 3. The person being hurt has a hard time making it stop 4. The behaviour is repeated or has the potential of being repeated 5. The people doing it have more power Power here means – the person doing it is older, bigger, stronger, more popular, ganging up against someone.

How would you feel when someone would want to make you feel bad about yourself? Is this right? Should we do this to others?

How is bullying different from mean/rude behaviour? Is someone engaging in bullying just because they are mean/rude to you? NO Being Rude = saying or doing something that hurts someone else. Being Mean = Purposefully saying or doing something to hurt someone once (or maybe twice.) Bullying = Intentionally aggressive behaviour, repeated over time, that involves an imbalance of power.

The following behaviours are NOT bullying Not liking someone Being excluded Accidentally bumping into someone  Making other kids play things a certain way A single act of telling a joke about someone Arguments/fights with classmates Talking negative about someone

What to do when you experience bullying? Tell an adult – parent, teacher With the help of the adult, develop a plan about how you can respond to a situation. Don’t get aggressive/angry Know that you do not deserve what is happening Don’t loose your confidence and stay strong

When you see someone being bullied, speak up. Tell an adult (your teacher or parent) Let others know that you don’t accept bullying in school Tell the kid who is being bullied that he/she doesn't deserve to be treated this way.

THANK YOU.
