Is Google Workspace
just a new name given
to the old G Suite?
.
.
.
.
Or is there more to it?

Google Workspace includes all of the productivity
apps you know and love—Gmail, Calendar, Drive,
Docs, Sheets, Slides, Meet, and many more. Whether
you're returning to the office, working from home, on
the frontlines with your mobile device, or connecting
with customers, Google Workspace is the best way to
create, communicate, and collaborate.
- Javier Soltero
VP and GM, Google Workspace

PLANS AND
PRICING

Google Workspace Plans
Microsoft 365 Plans

Business Email, required by all businesses, is
missing in the Basic plan of Microsoft 365
Google Workspace has an option of Unlimited
Cloud storage which is missing in Microsoft 365.
Google Workspace is more prepared to take up the
remote work environment compared to the latter.
key Considerations
Preferred Choice
Google Workspace

PRODUCTIVITY
APPS

vs
Both of them are great spreadsheet tools.
If the businesses are in need of basic features and
real-time collaboration then Google Sheets is the
best go-to tool.
If businesses have the need to extensively integrate
with other Microsoft apps, high-end data analytics
and computational features, then they need to go
for Microsoft Excel.
But, even if another user does not have access to a
business’s Google Workspace, all they need is a
Google account to collaborate on the Google Sheets
but this is quite difficult with Excel

vs
Google Docs - Better collaboration, can be used
anytime and anywhere, can provide different levels
of accessibility to different users
Microsoft Word - Allows for extensive formatting
and layout work
Google Docs does not have a desktop version and has to
rely on the internet for editing and collaborating.

Google Docs - iI businesses are looking for easy
collaborations with basic features so that the files
are available anytime, anywhere then Google Slides
is the tool.
Microsoft Word - If the businesses are on the
lookout for advanced presentations with cool
animations and extensive features then Powerpoint
presentation is a good choice.
vs

Google Docs - Can easily collaborate with
productivity tools, time saving, user friendly
interface, more storage space
Microsoft Word - large companies where there is a
need to manage others’ calendars or inboxes then
Outlook is a better option, can manage, availability
of appointment booking tools,
vs

COLLABORATION
FEATURES

Google Workspace - Easy and real time collaboration; easy to
add other users or email them the link; revision of the files
happens in real-time
Microsoft Word - widely used so compatibility with Microsoft
Apps will be higher; allow to create more polished documents
with their advanced productivity apps
key Considerations
Preferred Choice
Both are good

THIRD-PARTY
INTEGRATIONS

Google Workspace - can easily integrate third-party apps to
Google Workspace; Google Workspace Marketplace offers 750+
third-party apps; apps belong to categories such as CRM,
Project Management, Administering domain etc; user-friendly
and less restricting
Microsoft Word - Microsoft 365 has embedded Power Apps
which allow the users to build, customize and publish apps;
Microsoft 365 does not have very popular productivity apps
key Considerations
Preferred Choice
Google Workspace

EASE OF USE

Google Workspace - easy online collaboration, clean and simple
interface and “work from any device” kind of an environment
Microsoft Word - eye-appealing; extensive features;
key Considerations
Preferred Choice
Depends on user
learning curve

CUSTOMER
SUPPORT

Google Workspace - 24/7 customer support available through
phone, chat and email; Phone support available in 14 languages;
Help centre with lots of guides and documents; users can reach
out to other Google experts and administrators through the
community forums; quick to respond.
Microsoft Word - Support through email and phone; huge
searchable knowledge base with how-to- guides and self-help
documentation.
key Considerations
Preferred Choice
Both provide great
customer support

SECURITY

Google Workspace - built on Google’s cloud infrastructure; has same
security features as that of Google; helps in automatic detection of
phishing attempts, suspicious activity and other hacking attempts; Two-
Factor authentication; has built-in spam, malware and virus detection
which constantly scans all files and attachments.
Microsoft Word - Multiple Factor Authentication; uses AI tools to keep
track of the user activities and raises a flag if it detects suspicious
activity; has a device management tool, which restricts user access to
company-owned devices thus preventing the user from leaking
information.
key Considerations
Preferred Choice
Both
