* Vehicles help up move from one place to another. They are also called means of transport. * There are different means of transport. * Land * Water * Air Means of transport

Different means of transport In villages people use bullock carts for transporting farm produce.

Some years ago, tongas or horse carts were also quite common.

Nowadays, the most common means of land transport are two-wheelers such as bicycles, scooters and motorcycles .

Buses take many people to places both within the city and outside, to other towns and cities.

People use cars to travel within and outside the city.

Autorickshaws are a convenient way to travel within a city.

Trucks are used to transport goods from one place to another.

Trains take thousands of people to many small towns and big cities.

In big cities there are Metro trains .

Aeroplanes fly in the air and take us to far away places.

Helicopters are used to carry people.

Ships , boats and ferries carry people and goods across water bodies.

Using fuel Carts are driven by animals . Other means of transport have engines .

All engines need fuel . Fuel is a substance that burns to produce heat. The heat makes parts of the engine turn.

Most cars run on petrol . Some cars also run on diesel and electricity . Buses and trucks run on diesel .

Autorickshaw runs on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).

Traffic jams In big cities, everyone uses transport to go to schools, offices or markets. So, there are many vehicles are on the road, This causes traffic jams .

pollution All vehicles give out smoke and gases. These make the air dirty. Making air dirty is called air pollution .

Vehicles use the horns that makes our roads very noisy. This is called noise pollution . Np can cause headaches & loss of hearing.

Aircraft in which a single person can fly.

Aircraft that fly using the Sun’s energy.

Huge ships which are cities within themselves. They have shops, clubs, swimming pools and play areas.
