Near vs. Far: This and That This: Points to something close to you That: Points to something farther away Both are singular (one thing) Example: This pencil is mine. That book belongs to the teacher. Can you point to something near you and say "this"? Now point to something far and say "that"!
Plural Forms: These and Those These: Points to multiple things close to you Those: Points to multiple things farther away Both are plural (more than one thing) Example: These cookies are delicious. Those trees are very tall. What are some "these" you can see in our classroom? What "those" can you see outside?
Using This and These Use for things close to you This: for one thing (singular) These: for more than one thing (plural) Examples: This chair is comfortable. These chairs are comfortable. Can you make your own sentence using "this" or "these"?
Using That and Those Use for things far from you That: for one thing (singular) Those: for more than one thing (plural) Examples: That building is very tall. Those buildings are very tall. Try making a sentence using "that" or "those" about something outside the window!
