3 Ah Kong Pek Khee Chang Ah Ma Chuey Bo Lang Grandpa climbs a tree. Grandma cannot find him. 天很黑。有一只大老鼠。奶奶在找爷爷 Reflection 反思 The greater our attachment to a person or worldly things, the greater the Dukkha we will experience. 我们对一个人或世俗事物 的执着越强, 我们所经历的苦就越大。

Grandma asks him to go and ease himself. 爷 爷爷控制不住了, 奶奶叫他去解手。 Reflection 反思 All worldlings spin in the cycle of Pleasure-Pain endlessly. Walk The Noble 8-Fold diligently to be free from all Dukkha. 世间万物永无止境地在苦乐循环中旋转。 勤奋行八正道,摆脱一切苦。

8 Ah Kong Chui Ji Ooi Ah Ma Bo Huan Tui Grandpa finds a place. Grandma does not object. 爷爷找了个地方。 奶奶也不反对。 Reflection 反思 In Samsara, worldlings all the time are searching for ways to overcome problems or suffering. The best Way to cease all Dukkha is The Noble 8-Fold Path. 在轮回中,世间人总是在寻找克服困难或痛苦的方法。 消除一切苦痛的最好方法就是八正道。

9 Ah Kong Ti Ti Chah Ah Ma Khi Juak lah Grandpa keeps on grumbling and complaining. Grandma gets irritated and annoyed. 爷爷不停地发牢骚, 抱怨,奶奶也变得烦躁不安。 Reflection 反思 We are creatures of conditioning and habits. With Right Effort, may we remove our bad habits and traits. 我们是受制约和习惯的生物。通过正确的努力, 我们可以消除不良习惯和特质。

12 Ah Kong Lam Ah Ma Ah Ma Hua Hee Lah Noh Lang Chio Ha Ha Grandpa hugs Grandma. Grandma is happy naturally. Both of them laugh ‘Ha, Ha!’ 爷爷抱住奶奶,奶奶自然开心,两人都笑着‘哈哈!’ Reflection 反思 Worldly happiness & sorrow come and go. Learn to embrace them peacefully without attachment. 世俗的快乐和悲伤来来去去。 学会平静地接受它们,不去执着。

13 Ah Ma Po Thor Thia Ah Kong Kio Ee Pia Grandma has a stomachache. Grandpa asks her to go and defecate. 奶奶肚子疼,爷爷叫她去解便。 Reflection 反思 We are all subject to illness, sickness and pain. Realize this truth to be more patient, tolerant and enduring. 我们都会生病、痛苦。认识到这个道理, 我们会更加有耐心、宽容和忍耐。

14 Ah Ma Pang Beh Chut Ah Kong Kio Ee Thut Grandma cannot defecate. Grandpa asks her to rub hard on the stomach. 奶奶排便不出来, 爷爷就叫奶奶用力揉肚子。 Reflection 反思 Attachment to the 5 Aggregates is the root cause of Dukkha. Walk ardently the Noble 8-Fold Path to be free from Dukkha. 执着于五蕴是苦的根本原因。 热忱地走八正道,以摆脱苦。

15 Ah Ma Jin Khan Khor Ti Ti So Po Thor Ee A Tia Chin Khor Grandma is really suffering. She keeps rubbing her stomach. Her pain is very agonizing. 奶奶真的很痛苦,她不停的揉着肚子,疼得她心都痛死了。 Reflection 反思 May we SEE the Truth of Dukkha and Impermanence. Only then will we want to walk the Dhamma Way to end Dukkha. 愿我们能够见识苦与无常的真相。 只有这样,我们才会走上佛法之路,结束苦。

16 Ah Kong Kio Lo Kun Ah Ma Eio Wan Thun Grandpa calls for a Doctor. Grandma swallows the medicine. 爷爷叫了医生。奶奶把药吞了下去。 Reflection 反思 The Buddha once said, “When the body is sick, do not let the mind be sick.” Train the mind to be strong – in understanding, love and wisdom. 佛陀曾说过:“身体有病,心无病。” 训练心灵变得坚强 - 在理解、爱和智慧方面。

17 Ah Kong Jin Jia Kia Ah Ma Bo Chut Sia Grandpa is very frightened. Grandma does not utter any sound. 爷爷很害怕,奶奶一声不吭。 Reflection 反思 Separation from and death of loved ones are inevitable. Reflect on this constantly to SEE the truth of this. Then the mind can remain peaceful come what may. 与亲人分离和死亡是不可避免的。不断反思这一点, 了解其中的真相。无论发生什么,心灵都能保持平静。

18 Ah Kong Ang Kong Kieu Hor Ah Ma Mia Eeu Grandpa appeals to the gods. To give Grandma Life fuel. 爷爷向神祈求,给奶奶生命燃料。 Reflection 反思 The things we want or wish for are not obtained through praying or appealing to gods. The Law of Kamma reigns supreme. Good begets good and bad begets bad. 我们想要或希望得到的东西不是通过祈祷或求神而得到的。业力法则至高无上。善有善报,恶有恶报。

19 Ah Kong Kia Ee See Ji Leh Si Mia Li Grandpa is afraid Grandma would die. Well, this is one’s charted Destiny. 爷爷怕奶奶死。 好吧, 这就是命中注定的命运。 Reflection 反思 The cycle of birth, ageing, sickness and death spins in Samsara. Strive diligently in the Dhamma to end the suffering in our conditioned world. 生老病死轮回,轮回不断。精进修行, 止息世间的苦难。

20 Oh, Uncle Auntie Lang Seh Lau Peh See Oh, Uncle Auntie. Man is born, ages, gets sick and dies. 噢,叔叔阿姨。人会出生、衰老、 生病和死亡。 Reflection 反思 Wise ones understand the 3 Characteristics of existence: Impermanence, Suffering and Non-self. They walk ardently the Noble 8-Fold Path for Liberation from Dukkha. 智者了解存在的三个特性:无常、苦、无我。他们热忱地走八正道,以摆脱苦。

21 Oo Khor Oo Hwa Hee Ji Leh Si Hood Li There is Suffering, there is Happiness. This is Dhamma. 有苦,就有乐。这就是法。 Reflection 反思 The Worldly Wind of ‘Suffering and Happiness’ is experienced by us all in conditioned existence. Seeing this, may we embrace these conditioned things that arise and fall. 世间“苦乐”之风,我们每个人都在有为存在中体验过。看到这一点,愿我们拥抱这些生灭的有为事物。

22 Cho Lang Chin Bo Oon Ong Tay Teok Si Poon Human Life is fragile and uncertain. Even an Emperor has to die. 人的生命是脆弱和无常的。即使是皇帝, 也难免一死。 Reflection 反思 Life is uncertain. Death is certain. The point of death is uncertain. The mode of death is uncertain. What is ‘ENOUGH’? When is ‘ENOUGH’, enough? 生是不确定的。死是确定的。死的时机是不确定的。 死的方式也是不确定的。什么是“足够”? 什么时候“足够”才算足够?

23 Hood Li Kin Hoon Lian Mai Kong Jin Jia Sian Strive on and practice the Dhamma quickly. Don’t be conquered by sloth and mental laziness. 努力修行,快快修行。 不要被懒惰和精神懒惰所征服。 Reflection 反思 One of the strong hindrances for progress in Dhamma practice is “Sloth and Torpor”. Resolve and take steps to conquer this hindrance. 佛法修行进步的一大障碍是“懒惰和昏睡”。 下定决心并采取措施克服这一障碍。

24 Cho Lang Mai Tham Sim Kah Teng Cho Tiam Sim As a Human, do not be Greedy. Otherwise, you’ll be a victim of suffering. 作为人,不要贪婪。否则, 你就会成为痛苦的受害者。 Reflection 反思 Beware of the great danger of GREED and COVETOUSNESS. 25 Seng Tay A Heow Koh Mai Khi Hong Wan Thor Beware of your Temper. Don’t get angry or jealous. 当心你的脾气。不要生气或嫉妒。 Reflection 反思 The dangers of ANGER, HATE and JEALOUSY are truly great. Not only do you suffer in this life – after death they propel you to a woeful state. 愤怒、仇恨和嫉妒的危害确实很大。 它们不仅会让你在今生受苦,死后也会让你陷入悲惨的境地。

26 Seng Tay Chin Hong Hiam Lu A Khor Chin Thiam Anger or temper is very dangerous You can suffer terribly. 愤怒或发脾气非常危险, 您可能会遭受巨大的痛苦。 Reflection 反思 Anger in the mind can lead to unwholesome speech and actions. 27 Lu Teok A Thoon Loon Eng Ko Mang Gow Koon Boh Lu Teok See Poon You must be tolerant and patient. Do not take Kamma lightly. Otherwise, you’ll decline. 你必须宽容和耐心。不要轻视业报。否则你会衰落。 Reflection 反思 Impatience, intolerance and not being able to endure can lead to unskillful deeds. This results in Dukkha. 缺乏耐心、不宽容和不能忍耐会导致不善行。 这会导致苦。

28 Lang Mai Gong Tai Tai Teok Khor Lu Ka Chai Do not be ignorant or deluded. You’ll regret it when suffering pain hits you. 不要无知或自欺欺人。当痛苦降临到你身上时, 你会后悔的。 Reflection 反思 IGNORANCE ( of the 4 Noble Truths ) and DELUSION ( mental poison of not seeing things as they truly are ) is a root cause for Dukkha. Conquer Ignorance and Delusion with Wisdom – by following the Noble 8-Fold Path. 愤怒、仇恨和嫉妒的危害确实很大。 它们不仅会让你在今生受苦,死后也会让你陷入悲惨的境地。

29 Cho Ho Mai Cho Pai Lu A Koay Khor Hai Do Good, Avoid Evil. Purify the Mind. You can cross the Sea of Samsara. 行善避恶,净化心灵,就能渡过轮回之海。 Reflection 反思 Do not commit the 10 Unwholesome deeds – Lying, Malicious or Divisive Speech, Harsh Speech, and Gossip or Frivolous Speech. Practice Bhavana (mental cultivation) through learning the Buddha’s Discourses, understanding and practicing them. 不犯十恶行 —— 妄语、恶口、恶口、闲话。通过学习佛陀的教诲、理解和修行来修行(心智修炼)。
