About This Presentation

The Gravitational Force presentation explains how every object with mass exerts an attractive force on every other object in the universe. It introduces Newton’s Law of Universal Gravitation, discusses the gravitational constant, and distinguishes between mass and weight. The slides also describe ...

Slide Content

Gravitational Force An introduction to Newton’s Law of Universal Gravitation and its applications.

Newton’s Law of Gravitation Every mass attracts every other mass with a force directly proportional to their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them.

Universal Gravitational Constant The gravitational constant (G) = 6.674 × 10⁻¹¹ N·m²/kg² defines the strength of gravity.

Gravitational Field A region around a mass where another mass experiences a gravitational force.

Weight vs. Mass Weight is the gravitational force on a body (W = mg), while mass is the quantity of matter.

Gravitational Potential Energy Energy possessed by an object due to its position in a gravitational field.

Examples Planets orbiting the Sun, falling objects on Earth, and tides caused by the Moon’s gravity.

Applications Used in space exploration, satellite motion, and calculating planetary orbits.

Limitations Fails at very small scales or extremely high masses where relativity applies.

Summary Gravity governs large-scale motion in the universe and influences every physical system with mass.
