GSI An Overview

WHAT IS GSI Global Scope Items (GSIs) are pre-configured business processes and functions that are delivered by SAP S/4HANA Cloud for specific industries and regions. These GSIs are designed to support the best practices and requirements of different industries and regions. For example, a GSI for financials might include pre-configured settings for chart of accounts, posting rules, and financial statements that are tailored to a specific industry or region. SAP S/4HANA Cloud provides a library of GSIs that customers can select and activate based on their industry and regional requirements. Customers can also customize the GSIs to meet their specific business needs, although this is generally not recommended as it may increase the cost and complexity of the implementation.

GSI TESTING Testing of Global Scope Items (GSIs) in SAP S/4HANA Cloud involves verifying that the pre-configured business processes and functions are working correctly and meeting the requirements of the customer's industry and region. The testing process for GSIs can be divided into several stages, including: Unit Testing: In this stage, individual components of the GSI are tested to ensure that they are functioning correctly. For example, a GSI for financials might be tested for the accuracy of chart of accounts, posting rules, and financial statements. Integration Testing : In this stage, the GSI is tested for its integration with other business processes and functions in the SAP system. For example, a GSI for procurement might be tested for its integration with supplier management, purchasing policies, and sourcing strategies.

GSI TESTING User Acceptance Testing : In this stage, the GSI is tested by end-users to ensure that it meets their business requirements and is easy to use. For example, end-users might test a GSI for sales to ensure that it supports their sales processes and provides accurate and timely information. Regression Testing : In this stage, the GSI is tested again after any changes or updates have been made to ensure that it is still functioning correctly and has not been adversely affected by the changes.

GSI mapping with P2P Global Scope Items (GSIs) in SAP S/4HANA Cloud can be mapped with the Procure to Pay (P2P) cycle to provide a pre-configured end-to-end business process for procurement. In the Purchase Requisition stage, the GSI can provide pre-configured settings for the creation and approval of purchase requisitions, such as workflow and approval rules. In the Purchase Order stage, the GSI can provide pre-configured settings for the creation of purchase orders, such as supplier selection and contract management. In the Goods Receipt stage, the GSI can provide pre-configured settings for the verification and recording of goods received, such as inventory management and quality control. In the Invoice Verification stage, the GSI can provide pre-configured settings for the matching of invoices with purchase orders and goods receipts, such as automated invoice processing and approval workflows. In the Payment stage, the GSI can provide pre-configured settings for the payment process, such as payment terms and methods, and bank account management.

How to map GSI with P2P Identify the P2P requirements: Review the requirements for each stage of the P2P cycle, such as purchase requisitions, purchase orders, goods receipt, invoice verification, and payment processing. Determine which requirements need to be addressed in the GSI. Identify the GSI capabilities: Review the capabilities of the GSI and identify which capabilities can be used to meet the P2P requirements. Configure the GSI: Configure the GSI to align with the specific P2P requirements. For example, configure the GSI to include pre-configured settings for supplier management, purchasing policies, sourcing strategies, and other relevant areas. Test the GSI: Test the GSI to ensure that it is properly configured and meets the P2P requirements. Test each stage of the P2P cycle to verify that the GSI is functioning as intended. Refine the GSI: Refine the GSI as needed to optimize its performance and ensure that it is aligned with the P2P cycle. Implement the GSI: Once the GSI has been configured and tested, implement it in the SAP S/4HANA Cloud system. Train users on how to use the GSI and provide support as needed.

GSI mapping with O2C Global Scope Items (GSIs) in SAP S/4HANA Cloud can be mapped with the Order to Cash (O2C) cycle to provide a pre-configured end-to-end business process for sales and distribution. In the Sales Order stage, the GSI can provide pre-configured settings for the creation and processing of sales orders, such as pricing, product availability checks, and order fulfilment workflows. In the Delivery stage , the GSI can provide pre-configured settings for the delivery of goods or services to the customer, such as shipping and transportation management, and warehouse management. In the Billing stage , the GSI can provide pre-configured settings for the creation and processing of invoices, such as billing rules, tax calculation, and payment terms. In the Payment stage, the GSI can provide pre-configured settings for the payment process, such as payment terms and methods, and bank account management.

How to map GSI with O2C Identify the O2C requirements: Review the requirements for each stage of the O2C cycle, such as sales order processing, delivery, billing, and payment processing. Determine which requirements need to be addressed in the GSI. Identify the GSI capabilities: Review the capabilities of the GSI and identify which capabilities can be used to meet the O2C requirements. Configure the GSI: Configure the GSI to align with the specific O2C requirements. For example, configure the GSI to include pre-configured settings for pricing, product availability checks, order fulfillment workflows, and other relevant areas. Test the GSI: Test the GSI to ensure that it is properly configured and meets the O2C requirements. Test each stage of the O2C cycle to verify that the GSI is functioning as intended. Refine the GSI: Refine the GSI as needed to optimize its performance and ensure that it is aligned with the O2C cycle. Implement the GSI: Once the GSI has been configured and tested, implement it in the SAP S/4HANA Cloud system. Train users on how to use the GSI and provide support as needed.
