HISTORY
The English language
evolved in Britain as a result
of early invasions of the
island, firstly from a tribe of
Germanic invaders called
the Angles about 1500 years
ago, and later invasions
from the Saxons and the
Jutes, two tribes out of
Germany and modern day
Denmark.
English is the primary
language used in academics,
government, in business and
trade.
United Kingdom were colonized
by the Saxon, Angles, Jutes,
Normans and Romans. However,
they are also a colony as they
colonized different countries
accross the world in which they
introduced the English language
Importance
British English is more than just
a way of speaking; it's a symbol
of identity for the United
Kingdom of Great Britain and
Northern Ireland. It connects
the nation's rich history,
culture, and traditions, shaping
how its people communicate
and see the world. Every
accent, every word, carries the
weight of centuries, reminding
them of who they are and what
they've endured. It’s not just a
language; it’s their story.

Grammar
In British English, people often use Shall I ...? to offer to do something and/or
Shall we ...? to make a suggestion. It is very unusual for speakers of American
English to use shall. They normally use an alternative like Should/Can I ...? or
Do you want/Would you like ...? or How about ...? instead.
