INTRODUCTION Guidance and Counselling have , in all places , been a vital aspect of higher education . One of the purpose of education is to help the individual in becoming a useful member of the society .If an individual received education without guidance and counselling , he or she not able to develop his or her personality fully and thus is unable to serve his society in term of his ability or talent.
DEFINITION GUIDANCE - Guidance is the process through which an individual is able to solve their problem and a paths pursue suited to their ability. An example of guidance is advice given to a medical intern by the hospital's Chief of Staff. COUNSELING - Counseling is defined as face to face relationship in which growth take place in the counselor as well as counselee. An example of counseling When you visit a therapist to work out your relationship issues.

Remedial Measures Elementary school counsellors observe younger children during classroom and play activities, and confer with their teachers and parents to evaluate their strengths, problems, or special needs. They also help students to develop good study habits. They do less vocational and academic counselling than do secondary school counsellors.

Middle School Stage Remedial Measures:- Counsellors in an educational setting rely upon the psychological facts and principles to explain student problems of learning, remembering, establishing healthy interpersonal relations, problems of adjustment etc .
High School Stage I nterests, Emotions, Vocational consciousness
A ims of educational counselling at High School Stage Choosing the curriculum, which suits his/her abilities, interests, aspirations or goals. Acquiring efficient study habits and practices. Developing his/her potentialities in areas in which he/she is interested. Developing good interpersonal relationships. Deal with social, behavioral, and personal problems.
Aims of educational counselling at High School Stage E mphasize preventive and developmental counselling to provide students with the life skills needed to deal with problems before they occur, and to enhance personal, social, and academic growth. Counsellors provide special services, including alcohol and drug prevention programs, and classes that teach students to handle conflicts without resorting to violence. Counsellors also try to identify cases involving domestic abuse and other family problems that can affect a student’s development. Counsellors work with students individually, with small groups, or with entire classes. They consult and work with parents, teachers, school administrators, school psychologists, school nurses, and social workers.
College Level Counselling at this stage comprises a follow-up service, which may help them securing good education, assistance for personal and occupational adjustments. Counselling can be in the fields related to employment, social life, finance and personal adjustment, vocational, academic, etc., Counselling to adjust mental health of the students like – anxiety, depression etc. Educational counselling to promotes emotional maturity, personality development, self-responsibility, creativity and ability to solve problems.
