Healthy people 2010 Federal health promotion and disease prevention agenda developed to promote healthy lifestyles for americans. The Healthy people 2010 document was developed through a broad consultation process including focus groups and representatives from varied populations, built on foundation of scientific evidence, and designed to measure progress over time.

Goal 1: To increase life expectancy and improve the quality of life of all individuals. Currently life expectancy is 77years, while it was 47yrs at start of 20 th century. It varies with gender and income.
Goal 2: The second goal of healthy people 2010 is designed to recognize these disparities and eliminate barriers to good health. Contributing factors are: gender, race, education or income, disability, geographic location.
