2. FACTS ABOUT HAMLET It’s full title is “The Revenge of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark.” It was published between 1601 and 1603. Shakespeare appeared in the play as the Ghost at the Globe. Hamlet  is Shakespeare's longest play at 4,042 lines and with a running time of around 5 hours . Disney's  The Lion King  is based on  Hamlet .

3. SETTING -Denmark during the late middle ages (circa 1200). -Danish castle of Elsinore.

4. Characters HAMLET He is the prince of Denmark, and a man of radical contradiction. He is a very problematic person and an enigma.

5. Characters CLAUDIUS He is Hamlet’s uncle, and Gertrude’s second husband. He is power-hungry and lustful.

6. Characters GERTRUDE She is Hamlet’s mother. She committed incest when she married her former husband’s brother, Claudius. She is a weak-willed woman.

7. Characters Polonius -Lord Chamberlain of Denmark. Laertes -Polonius’ son Ophelia -Polonius’ daughter and Hamlet’s love Horatio -Hamlet’s confidante in his effort to revenge against Claudius Ghost -Hamlet’s father who endured in purgatory because he was murdered in his sleep without being able to ask for forgiveness.

8. themeS Women’s defining characteristic is powerlessness. Revenge is destructive.

9. REFLECTION Going after revenge keeps anger burning in you . Going after revenge attracts more negatives.  You live with the consequences of your revenge.

10. RECOMMENDATION It is a good story which teaches the consequences of acting impulsively because of hatred.

Hamlet : Do you think I meant country matters ? Ophelia : I think nothing, my lord. Hamlet : That's a fair thought to lie between maids ' legs. (III.ii.111-20)
