Hands-Only CPR by Maha Hammady If you see an unresponsive adult or teen who is not breathing or not breathing normally, call ( 123 ) and push hard and fast on the center of the chest . C ardio P ulmonary R esuscitation

WHY ??? Cardiac arrests are more common than youthink , and they can happen to anyone at any time : In USA ,nearly 326,000 out-of-hospital sudden cardiac arrests occur annually 88 % of cardiac arrests occur at home. Many victims appear healthy with no known heart disease or other risk factors . Effective bystander CPR provided immediately after sudden cardiac arrest can double or triple a victim’s chance of survival, but only 32% of cardiac arrest victims get CPR from a bystander . Sadly, less than 8% of people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital survive.

How Does It Works ? heart stops beating  flow stops  person will lose consciousness within 15 seconds  Within 30 to 60 seconds, he will stop breathing  irreversible damage to his brain will follow after several minutes of oxygen deprivation. in general CPR is effective only if performed within seven minutes of the stoppage of blood flow.
