Citizen’s Action for Monitoring Ecosystems (CAME)

Citizens’ Action for Monitoring Ecosystems (CAME ) CAME - (/kaˈmɪ/) Citizen Initiated Monitoring System for Key Biodiversity Areas (KBA) Patterned from BirdLife’s Important Bird and Biodiversity Area Monitoring System (IBAMS) and Community-based Monitoring & Reporting (CBMnR) framework Simple and scalable system that can be used to monitor KBAs outside the protected areas system.

Overall objectives of CAME Regular monitoring of the State , Pressures , and corresponding conservation Responses in a Key Biodiversity Areas Disseminate these information to stakeholders, decision makers (local, regional, and national), and natural resource managers for planning sustainable use of biodiversity.

Expected Results Assess the State of Key Biodiversity Areas (KBA) Assess the Pressures that threatened the persistence of biodiversity in the KBA Determine the necessary Responses to address the Pressures and enhance the State of Biodiversity. Roles of CAME team: Data Gatherer: Collect data from the field

Roles of CAME team: Information Management Specialist is in charge of keeping the whole system up and running. He/She manages the CAME system in the background. Supports data m anagers, handles hardware and software management, back-up and overall data security.

Roles of CAME team: Data Analyst: data validation, interpretation, analysis, reporting to manager Data Manager: support data collector and data analysts, loading boundaries of KBA, PA, and profiling Decision-maker: enforcement, apprehensions, policy, awareness raising

Empowerment of local partners Literacy Program Mamanwa-Manobo Tribe Bantay Gubat Trainings Over 200 Bantay Gubats and volunteers trained to assist in forest monitoring

Empowerment of local partners Establishment of CAME teams: Multi-stakeholder involvement Data gathering and monitoring trainings Regular Forest Monitoring Joint Monitoring with DENR Introduction of the KaPatrol app
