ThiscyclewasdiscoveredbyHatchandSlack,inAustralia(1966).
InitiallyCO2isfixedbyfourcarbonacid.
Theseplantsareadaptedtoaridclimateconditionandabletogivehigher
photosyntheticoutputevenathightemperatureandhighlightintensity.
Itispresentinbothmonocotsanddicots.
TheyareparticularlycommoninGramineae(corn,sugarcane),
Chenopodiaceae(Atriplex)andCyperaceaefamilies.
InC4plantstherearetwodistincttypesofphotosyntheticcells:
a.Bundlesheathcells
b.Mesophyllcells
ThebasicC4cyclecompletesinfivestages:
