INTRODUCTION : By December 2015,the term of the Millennium Development goals over & the new development agenda “Transforming our world: the 2030 agenda for sustainable development” was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on 25 th September,2015.
Cont. The post – 2015 agenda formulated 17 sustainable Development goals (SDG) on the basis of tremendous progress of MDGs.The agenda is applicable to all countries & has a wider scope .The SDGs cover a wide range of economic , health , education & environmental aspects.The areas of poverty eradication, health, education,food security & nutritional priority areas.
Definition of SDG: The SDG has been defined as “ Development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own need”.
STAKEHOLDERS : Govt . socities Private sectors Civil societies Others are expected to contribute to the realisation of new agenda.

SDG 3: Out of 17 goals,goal no.3 is pertaining to health. It has 13 targets.Altogether 17 SDGs have 169 targets. SDG 3 has 9 targets & each have indicators.
TARGETS OF SDG 3 INDICATORS 3.1 – By 2030, reduce the global MMR less than 70/100,000 live births. INDICATORS: Maternal death per 100,000 live births. Proportion of birth attended by skilled health personnel.
Cont. 3.2 – By 2030,& preventable death of newborns & children under 5 yrs of age,with all countries aiming to reducing neonatal mortality to at least as low as 12/1000 live births & under 5 mortality to at least as low as 25/1000 low births.
Cont. INDICATION: Under 5 mortality rate. Neonatal mortality rate.
Cont. 3.3 – By 2030,end the epidemics of AIDS,TB,malaria & neglected tropical diseases & combat hepatitis,water borne & other communicable diseases. INDICATORS: Incidence of HIV infections.
Cont. 2. Incidence of TB per 1000/ year. 3.Incidence of malaria case /1000 person/ year 4.Incidence of Help B infection per 100000 population in given year. 5.No. Of people requiring interventions against neglected tropical case.
Cont. 3.4- By 2030, reduce by 1/3 premature mortality from non communicable diseases through prevention, treatment & promote mental health & well being. INDICATION: Mortality of CVS,Ca , diabetes or chronic respiratory disease. Suicidal mortality.
Cont. 3.5- Strengthen the prevention & treatment of substance abuse including narcotics drug abuse & harmful use of alcohol. INDICATION: Coverege of treatment interventions. Alcohol per capita consumption.
Cont. 3.6 – By 2030,halve the number of global deaths & injuries from road traffic accidents. INDICATION: Number of road traffic fatal ink
Cont. 3.7- By 2030,ensure universal access to sexual & reproductive health care services including for family planning, information & education & the integration of reproductive health into national strategies and programmes.
Cont. INDICATION : Percentage of women of reproductive age who have their need for family planning for modern methods. Adolescent birth rate per 1000 women in that age group.
Cont. 3.8 – Achieve universal health coverage, including financial risk protection,access to quality essential health care services & access to safe, effective quality & affordable essential medicines & vaccine for all.
Cont. INDICATION : Coverage of tracer intervention such as child’s full immunization,TB treatment etc. Fraction of the population protected against catastrophic/improvising out of pocket health expenditure.
Cont. 3.9- By 2030, substantially reduce the number of deaths & illness from hazardous chemicals & air,water & social population of contamination.
Cont. INDICATION : Mortality rate attributed to household & ambient air pollution per lac population. Mortality rate attributed to hazardous chemicals,water & soil pollution & contamination per lac population.
IMPORTANCE OF SDG 3
OTHER HEALTH RELATED SDG: SDG 1,TARGET 3 : Implement nationally appropriate social protection system & measures for all,and by 2030 achieve substantial coverage of the poor & vulnerable.
OTHER HEALTH RELATED SDG: SDG 2, TARGET 2: By 2030,end all forms of malnutrition including achieving by 2015,the internationally agreed targets on stuting & wasting in child nutritional needs of adolescent girls ,pregnant & lactating women & older person .
OTHER HEALTH RELATED SDG: SDG 4, TARGET NO. 2- By 2030,ensure that all girls & boys have access to quality early childhood development,care & pr primary education so that they may be ready for primary education.

CONCLUSION : Sustainable development goal is place instead of Millennium development goal for development of people in country and all over the world.SDG 3 including of all SDG mainly focus on health related goals.
