Heroes Book into a film I have chosen to create an adaptation of Heroes the book by Robert Cormier into a film I have chose to make Heroes into a film because it wont work as well if I made it into a TV series The book only has three main characters so it would be easy to cast three actors The filing location won’t be a problem because it is set on two or three locations One of the locations is a village in France and a battle filed The third location is French town in America. Instead of filming in the actual town we will create a set to use

3. narrative and plot The story it told in the present However it has lots of flash backs. It has flashbacks so the audience can see and under stand why the character is the way he is and also why he wants to carry out his mission The film only has one storyline, it also has a lot of subplots to build it up The film is about a boy called Francis who grows up in Frenchtown, his Mother and Father has died. He lived with a woman called Mrs. Blende. He is now 18. He went to war but got his face blown off by a grenade In the film he has flash backs to when he was 15 and a famous man called Larry LaSalle moved to Frenchtown and everyone loved him He had a girlfriend called Nicole Reared When Larry came back from the war the locals threw a party for him. Larry and Nicole stayed after the party and he raped her. Francis found out and felt guilty so he went to war to try and get him self killed All he managed to to is get his face blown off In the present he goes to visit Nicole who now lives in New York and that ’ s when the story ends

4. genre The genre of the film is a historical drama It is period drama because it is set in WWII Its a drama because it is realistic film about WWII and it is not a fantasy This movie is a realistic movie about realistic events that could have happened to a boy in WWII

7. Target audience The target audience are Teenagers (class E). This movie is mostly aimed at people who are studying the book in school . I want to keep it like the book so the audience who have read the book can visually see the emotions of what the characters go through. Out side of education the film is aimed at females because it is a female type of movie. The genre of the film is a historical drama It is period drama because it is set in WWII

8. Key scenes First key scene is when Francis and Nicole start dating Second key scene is when Larry rapes Nicole The third key scene is when Francis try's to kill him self Fourth key scene is when Francis goes to kill Larry

Ethical issue One of the ethical issues that seems to stand in the way is that the young boy at the age of fifteen is considering committing suicide after a trustworthy man raped his girlfriend This might be an ethical issue because the man is seen as a hero and a good man 15 year old gets raped, the audience won’t see what is happening they only hear what is happening while they are see Francis reaction

10. Finance To create this movie I will need to have a UK budget for about £20,000,000. In the movie I wont be using CGI It wont be any CGI so the movie look as real it can be Instead of using CGI I will use real bombs/explosions for the battle filled scenes I will have a set of the village made because that is regally used in the movie However If I find a location that looks like my interruption of the village in my mid to save money I will use that as a location I will pay the three main actors £500 a day The other characters will be paid £250 a day All of the extras will be paid £50 per day This film will take six weeks to six months to film The budget will also include props, costumes, make-up/hair products, cast and crew hire, cameras, lights, advertisements, copyright distribution ect

11. Cinematic ideas It is shot with modern technology Miss-en-scene is 1940’s style Flashback has old style look as if it is real footage from the war Like the Imitation game film
