Hijama is a mode of treatment, which is carried out by creating a partial vacuum in the cupping glasses placed on the body surface by means of fire or suction, to evacuate morbid material or to divert the material from the deeper tissues of diseased part or to return a displaced organ to its normal position or to encourage the blood flow to the site. PRE-PROCEDURE : The patient should bring a loose top/t-shirt or a dressing gown along with them. Patient are advised to inform practioner about his or her full medical history. Patient will be given a form to be filled out before cupping session. If the patient is going to have it done on his or her arms and legs area, it is advisable to epilate these areas in the form which he fills prior to having the procedure. The patient should be advised not to eat for at least 2 hours before the procedure, so that the body is not occupied with digesting food, it means, no food or drinks until the procedure is completed. It is best to eat healthy food 24 hours before and after treatment. Administer the reading and values of blood pressure, glucose and pulse of the patient. Before going to proceed for bleeding cupping/ hijama , the patient must undergo pre-procedure care . Ask the patient to sit on a stool with support of knee high or sleeping posture depending on the targeted area. Then mild massage on the areas which needs to be cupped. Firstly, the desired area is cleansed with solution to keep hygiene. Then apply any gel (lignocaine gel or olive oil) to create an anesthetic effect. Dr. Azmath Khan Physiomatix MAIN PROCEDURE

A cup is applied to the skin creating suction (3 pulls) for about 3 to 5 minutes on desired location. Remove and inspect for any blisters or stagnation. Make an incision about 0.5 cm on the superficial skin layer with surgical blade or lancet. Keep the cup on for 5 minutes. You should be careful that the patient should not bleed more than 20 ml to 100 ml at one time . Dr. Azmath Khan Physiomatix Follow the following method

Practioners should be very careful while removing blood from the cups, most of the blood will be semi-coagulated. After completion of the whole process, apply antibiotic solution or ointment. Dress the area with gauze if required. Dr. Azmath Khan Physiomatix

1 . Use the instrument quickly and only once. 2. Incise the superficial skin only. 3. Incision should not be too deep. 4. Vital points should not be damaged . Dr. Azmath Khan Physiomatix NOTE :

1 . Eat healthy meals after treatment. 2. Apply black seed, olive or coconut oil to the area if irritation occur. 3. Do not have shower or bath for 24 hours. 4. Drink plenty of fresh fruit juice. 5.
