Hitory Of Quran

The divine revelations of the Quran did not come all at a time to our Holy Prophet ﷺ but came in fragments, from time to time, depending on the situation. For example, it may be that some one died and that time the ayats pertaining to inheritance were revealed.

Similarly the ayats pertaining to wine drinking were revealed at some certain situation. In the beginning when Hazrat Jibrael (A.S) narrated the revelations our Holy Prophet ﷺ started repeating the words so that he may not miss any word or forget any word.

To this, Allah revealed the ayat: “ Do not repeat the ayats now that for fear of forgetting. (Listen carefully now) it is Our job to engrave the Quran word by word, in your heart.”

Despite that our Holy Prophet recited ﷺ the ayats to the people and in his prayers, he told his sahaba(R.A) to write down. Whenever new ayats were revealed our Holy Prophet told the ﷺ sahaba(R.A) the sequence where to write them down.

Every Ramazan our Prophet ﷺ recited in the presence of Hazrat Jibrael(A.S) the portion of the Quran revealed till that time. In his last year our Prophet ﷺ recited the whole Quran to Hazrat Jibrael(A.S) twice.

The sahaba also reicted the whole Quran during Taraweeh every year. At that time the verses of Quran were written on whatever material available, like parchments(pieces of leather), slate-like stones, shoulder-blade bones, palm leaves etc and were scattered(spread) with a number of Sahaba.

In the regime of Hazrat Abu Bakar (R.A), on the insistance of Hazrat Umer(R.A), the chief writer of the Quran verses when revealed, Hazrat Zaid(R.A) was entrusted with the task of making a master copy of the Quran.

He took great pains, collected all the material from all the Sahaba(R.A) on which Quranic verses were written. He called all the Huffaz of the Quran, compiled all the pieces in a sequential order, verified then word by word with all the Huffaz and then made a Master copy in the same sequence as our Prophet ﷺ had guided the writers to write and the same sequence as we read today.

In the days of Hazrat Usman(R.A) several copies were made and sent to different provincial capitals of the muslim empire. As Allah Himself guarranted to protect the Quran, no attempt for 1400 years till now has succeded to make any change or variation, not even a word, not a dot, comma, full stop.

There have been hundereds and thousands of huffaz in whose hearts the whole Quran, as it was revealed, is fully secured.

All Muslims have faith that the Quran is the word of Allah revealed to our Holy Prophet ﷺ through His angel Hazrat Jibrael(A.S). Our Holy Prophet ﷺ neither wrote it, nor compiled it on his own.

We may use the metaphor(example) that the Prophet ﷺ is the bulb and the revelation are electric current. The power of the bulb, the voltage of the current are determined by Allah Himself. The Quran is addressed to all humanity without distinction of race, region or time till the day of Qiyamat.

It seeks to guide man in all walks of life – spiritual, temporal(worldly), individual and collective, It contains directions for the conduct of the head of state as well as a layman , o rich as well as the poor, for peace as well as war, for the family life.

It develops the personality of the individual. The Quran not only gives commands but also convinces which appeals to the people who listen with an open heart. The Quran gives the introduction of Allah that He is the Creator, the Sustainer, Knower, All Powerful, His blessings are uncountable.

Nothing happens without His consent. He has guided man through His messengers and guided man how to pass his life in obedience of Allah. If man strictly follows the will of Allah and does every act of life as taught by His messenger, Allah will be pleased and he will be given peace in this world and will be sent to heaven forever.

On the other hand, if man does not care about the commands of Allah and does everything in life according to his own free will or customs of the society or fashion, without following the sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ then Allah gives no guarantee at all for a better future.
