Cubism
-Cubism is a Avant-Garde method of
creating art.
-In Cubist artworks, be that Painting
like Picaso or Photography with
David Hockney, objects/images are
broken up, analysed and re-
assembled in a slight abstract form.
-Instead of depicting objects from
one viewpoint/angle, the artist
depicts the subject from a multiple
viewpoints. This is often to represent
the subject in a greater and more
complex way.
-Often the surfaces intersect at
seemingly random angles and the
sense of depth is diluted

How to create your own
photograph which includes
the cubism technique.
Capture an image which has;
•Multiple activities
•A sense of depth and layers
•Which considers
T.AB.L.ES
•Uses a Tripod
Once all considered ensure you have 2-3 versions of the same image, try and allow
the light to change slightly between the images.
To begin insert your image into Photoshop and cut rectangles/squares from the
side of the image to make the image more abstract and less rectangular shaped.
Now use the rectangle select tool to
select sections and copy and paste
them.
Then move these parts of the image
to begin to follow the objectives of
cubism. Try discreetly enlarging
them, rotating them and discreetly
duplicating certain areas of interest to
Highlight them
Select different sections from your
other 2 images and paste them to
your original to allow light and tone
changes.
