Characteristics of t&t industry Second largest industry in the world offering endless opportunities due to the continuous growth of tourism. Service-oriented in nature. All sectors provide interactive services and products to travelers
Different Sectors of TTI Transport Operations- composed of different means of movement from ones locality towards the place of destination and service is not only about the movement but the journey itself. Lodging Facilities- establishments that provide temporary accommodation for the travelerswhich may include from basic housekeeping to elaborate butler service ensuring a comfortable stay.
Different Sectors of TTI Food & Beverage Services- all forms of services which provide the meals which may range from elaborate fine-dining to vending machines offering all types of food and beverage products. Event or Attraction- what makes a place become a tourism destination is defined by what it can offer to the prospective visitors. Travel services- encompasses both private agencies and government organization that works hand-in-hand to promote any tourism destination
Different Sectors of TTI Retail Shops- these are the stores that provide for the daily needs of the visitors making their stay comfortable, enjoyable and memorable.
Enormous Accommodation Operations Tourism -is defined as the activities of people travelling to and staying in places outside their usual environment for leisure, business or other purposes for not more than one consecutive year. Hotel -is a commercial establishments that operates as a lodging facility providing accommodation, meals, and other services to travelers or tourist with rooms not less than 10.
Characteristics to consider for lodging products and services Hotel offers tangible products with intangible services. The products and resources are highly perishable. The inseparability of product and services being sold to guests. Both are exposed on subjective perception.
Criteria of Hotel Classification Size - Pertains to the number of rooms a hotel the facility offers to the public. 2. Price - some classification is based on the price range of the rooms which start from budget, economy, mid-range and luxury as the highest. 3. Ownership and Affiliation - the establishment may fall under independent, owned by single company or individual or dependent.
Criteria of Hotel Classification 4. Type of service - hotels may vary from the quality and range of service an establishment wish to be known for. 5. Accreditation - each country or society will have an accrediting organization to impose a level of standards set to group hotels according to the quality of product and services they can offer in order for the visitors, to be guided on what to expect; most of the time serves as price indicator as well.
Criteria of Hotel Classification 6. Target Market - Pertains to the group or sector that an establishment wishes to retain or attract. 6.a. Commercials - those located in business districts and usually caters for travels for business reason 6.b. Motel - motor hotels which are normally located in highways with parking provisions catering to traveling guest via automobile.

Airport Hotels - known for their proximity to the airport and caters for those who travel by air and just need a quick stop or had canceled flight including airline personnel 6.d. Suite Hotel - Provide a living room together with the separate bedroom ideal for vacationing families and business professionals.

Residential Hotel - those types which rent their rooms on a longer term and offer hotel services to guest aside from accommodation which normally caters to corporate 6.f. Resorts - located in scenic spot which offers a more relaxed atmosphere matched with exciting recreational facilities appealing as a tourist destination.
Criteria of Hotel Classification 6.g. Bed and breakfast hotel -popular to western countries where houses with not more than ten rooms are converted to the commercial use of which accommodation. 6.h. Vacation ownership hotels - also known as timeshare wherein the buyer owns a room for only a period of time that he can use or swap for other properties for his planned vacation.

Condominium Hotel -the owner of each unit allows the management to rent out their property in times that it is not being utilized and the profit will be shared by the owner and managing company. 6.j. Casino Hotel - features gambling facility as a major attraction matched with extravagant food and beverage operation and entertainment, luxurious design and guestrooms.
Criteria of Hotel Classification 7. Convention and conference Hotel -house any event providing a venue with convention facilities with adequate of the given number of attendees 8. Boutique Hotel -small hotels that can be characterized by personal feeling and extravagant accommodation style; usually have between 10-100 rooms
Hotel Functional Departments Front Office -this is the nerve center of the hotel operation with the most exposure directly dealing with the most of their demands and communicating them to the departments that can resolve the concern. Housekeeping - provides for the main product of a hotel which gives the home away from home experience that includes the room and services equivalent to the household chores done for the guest
