Slide Content

Plants react to the length of days (Photoperiodism) & different seasons . The length of days & nights changes according to the Earth’s revolution around the Sun . Earth tilts around its axis -Different seasons in the Northern Hemisphere & Southern Hemisphere results in longer days & shorter nights in summer while shorter days & longer nights in winter. Different seasons trigger Phytochromes(l ight sensitive pigments) in plants which causes them to bloom / shed their leaves. Seasonal changes in Plants

Plant Regrowth : (Blooming Flowers, Reproduction, Formation of Leaves) This is the best season for seed germination. Day length becoming longer. Spring Season

Summer Season Plant Growth, Flowering, Fruit Formation. Plants grow maximum during this season. Length of the day is longer.

Autumn Season Plants shed their leaves before entering into dormant stage. Length of the days becoming shorter.

Winter Season Plant Dormancy : Stop Growing, Conserve Energy. Length of the night is longer. The leaves of plants are converted into icicles(no leaves on plants).
