How to create a wiki using Wikispaces

This is a step-by-step approach in creating a wiki

2. Ask Google/Bing for wikispaces
Choose Wikispaces -
for Educators

3. Click on Start your wiki
Choose Start your
wiki

4. Make sure you have thought about
your wiki name
This is your internet
address that reflects
your type of wiki
You will use the same
username for all your
wikis. Mine is
‘fionabeal’ for instance

5. So in my case…
This is your internet
address that reflects
your type of wiki
I always choose the
‘protected’ option so that
the wiki can be seen by
others
Choose this as you get extra
features free as a teacher
Check this box here
and then press
create

6. This is how it will open up!
Note that the
navigation bar is on
the right. We want
to change that to
make it look more
like a website, so
click on ‘Manage
wiki’.

7. This is the page where you change your
settings
Now click on
‘Look and feel’

8. Go to ‘Themes and colours’
Choose ‘themes
and colours’

9. Make your choices
I chose this
one. Once you
have made your
choice there are
some gorgeous
colours – not
reflected on this
page

10. Here are the colour choices for this theme
Make your
choice!

11. Add some writing about the type of wiki
you have chosen
Edit is the
important button
from now on! Click
on here to be able
to write on this
page

12. Write a short paragraph about
your wiki and press Save
Do your first bit of writing
– we can remove it later.
Then press Save.
