HOW TO LEAD A SPIRIT-POWERED LIFE Ephesians 5:15-20

Ephesians 5:15-20 “Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16  making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. 17  Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. 18  Do not get drunk on wine , which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit ..”

Ephesians 5:15-20 “19  speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, 20  always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

I. BEING FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT IS A COMMAND TO ALL BELIEVERS .

“The Spirit-filled life is not a special , deluxe edition of Christianity . It is part and parcel of the total plan of God for His people ” - A. W. Tozer

II. BEING FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT HAS THE IDEA OF CONTROL.

“The reason why many are still troubled, still seeking, still making little forward progress is because they haven’t yet come to the end of themselves . We’re still trying to give orders , and interfering with God’s work within us .” - A.W. Tozer

The purpose of the filling of the Holy Spirit is transformation , not exhilaration.

“The Holy Spirit’s main ministry is not to give thrills but to create in us Christlike character .” — J. I. Packer.

III. WE CAN ONLY BE FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT WHEN WE SUBMIT TO GOD’S COMMANDS .

The Spirit of God uses the Word of God to unleash the power of God to transform us into the image of God .

IV. BEING FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT ISN’T A ONE TIME EXPERIENCE .

“Being filled with the Holy Spirit really means removing the boulders in our life that prevent the flow of the Holy Spirit in our lives ” – J.I Parker.
