4 TYPES OF4 TYPES OF
WASTEWASTE
MANAGEMENTMANAGEMENT LANDFILL-The process of designing, oprerating,
and monitoring designated sites where
solid waste is systematically burried
and compacted. INCINERATION -A high temperature thermal process
of controlled combustion used in
waste management to reduce the
volume and mass of waste,
typically by 80-90%.
RECYCYLING-The process of collecting and
processing waste materials that
would otherwise be discarded,
transforming them into new,
useful materials or product. COMPOSTING -The biological decomposition of
organic materials, such as food craps
and yard waste, into a nutrient rich
product called compost. DIFFERENT TYPES

MANAGEMENT AFFECT
PEOPLE'S AND ENVIRONMENT Landfill: Contaminating air, water,
and soil with toxins, increasing the risk of respiratory
illnesses, cancers, and other chronic conditions for nearby
community. Incineration: Releasing harmful air pollutants like particulate
matter, dioxins, heavy metals, and acid gases
from the burning of waste, which can lead to
respiratory and cancer risks, as well as
contamination of soil and water.
Recycling:Reducing pollution, conserving
natural resources, saving energy, and
decreasing greenhouse gas emissions. Composting: Reduces reliance on chemical fertilizers
and pesticides, thereby lowering health
risks associated with their use and
improving the nutrients density of food
grown in compost-enriched soil.
Waste management
includes fascinating facts
like the world generating
over 2 billion tons of waste
annually, plastic bottles
taking up to 1,000 years to
decompose, and the energy
saved by recycling just one
aluminum can being
enough to power a TV for
three hours. Proper waste
management is crucial, as
landfills are a major source
of methane, a potent
greenhouse gas, while
materials like glass and
aluminum can be recycled
indefinitely. WHAT ISWHAT IS
WASTEWASTE
MANAGEMENT?MANAGEMENT? Waste management refers to the processes
involved in managing waste from cradle to
grave. This includes the collection,
transportation, disposal/recycling and
monitoring of waste materials produced as a
result of human activity. Waste management encompasses all
types of waste, such as household,
industrial and hazardous. Waste can also
be solid, liquid or gas, each of which
have their own methods of management
and disposal. The whole purpose of waste management is to
reduce the amount of waste that goes into
landfill. Instead, rubbish should be seen as a
valuable resource. 1. Reduce Single-Use Plastics 2. Say "Not So Fast" to Fast Fasion 3. Make Sustainable Purchases 4. Reduce Your Food Waste 5. Address Wastewater 6. Go Digital 7. Talk Trash 8. Challenge Leader to Do
