How To Prevent Water Pollution Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of preventing water pollution can be both challenging and
enlightening. The difficulty lies not only in gathering relevant information and data but also in
presenting a comprehensive overview of the issue while proposing effective solutions. The
subject demands a thorough understanding of the various sources and causes of water pollution,
ranging from industrial discharge to agricultural runoff and improper waste disposal.
One of the challenges is to strike the right balance between providing enough background
information to educate the reader and delving into specific strategies for prevention. It requires a
nuanced approach to discuss the complexities of water pollution without overwhelming the
reader with technical jargon.
Moreover, crafting a compelling and persuasive argument for preventive measures involves
critical thinking and analytical skills. The writer must address the interconnected nature of
environmental issues, considering the impact of human activities on water ecosystems and
emphasizing the urgency of proactive solutions.
Additionally, maintaining a coherent structure and logical flow throughout the essay is essential.
Transitioning seamlessly from discussing the problem to proposing solutions requires careful
planning and organization. The writer must guide the reader through a thoughtfully structured
essay that effectively communicates the importance of addressing water pollution and the role
individuals and communities can play in prevention.
Despite the challenges, writing on such a vital topic provides an opportunity for personal growth
and advocacy. It encourages the writer to delve into research, cultivate a deep understanding of
environmental issues, and develop the communication skills necessary to convey complex ideas
to a diverse audience.
In conclusion, tackling the essay on preventing water pollution demands a combination of
research, critical thinking, and effective communication. It requires the writer to navigate through
a myriad of information, addressing both the root causes of water pollution and proposing
practical solutions. Ultimately, the process not only educates the writer but also contributes to
raising awareness about the importance of safeguarding our water resources for future
generations.

Caste Based Poitics in India
Is India a
Caste Democracy ?
Introduction: Caste based politics in India
Though the idea that caste is a part of a natural and moral order of things, that it is a
hereditary quality which once for all defines ones position and occupational
affiliation and which is associated with a particular law of conduct is rejected both
by intellectuals and political leaders, caste is in Indian post independence politics
continually used and abused in different ways.
State politics in India has been particularly the hot bed of political casteism. Caste
enters much more directly into the composition of political elites at the state level.
For example the mysore cabinet is dominated by Lingayats and Vokkaliga, the
Maharashtra Cabinet by Marathas, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Caste, once an instrument for the maintenance of hierarchy, is, paradoxically, seen as
a vehicle for egalitarianism between castes, though not within them. But which type
of identity is politically salient of course varies in a land as great, as stratified, and
as pluralistic and heterogeneous as India over time and territory. While caste
identities and Hindu nationalism are now particularly salient in the north of India,
regional and linguistic identities are strong in Assam and the states of northeast, class
identity and membership serves as a basis for mobilization and political action in
Kerala and West Bengal.
Not only is caste institutionalized in politics through the system of reservations, which
guarantee seats in government, access to educational institutions and employment in
the administrative (which is a way how to get into position of political power) for
selected large segments of society, but caste based organizations are also emerging
within the framework of the civil society. The particular group rights remain a source
of conflict between those who support them and those who oppose them while the
forward castes oriented more towards the equality of opportunity than equality of
outcome together with Hindu nationalist, who perceive the reservations as

Causes Of The Spanish Civil War
Spanish Civil War: Overview and Detailed Study
Part 1: During the 1930s, Spain was undergoing a lot of social, political, and
economic turmoil that eventually launched it into civil war. While Spain was once
one of the strongest powers in Europe, its strength had been declining in the decades
before the war, as its people and government became more and more divided. In
1923, Spain underwent a military coup and General Primo de Rivera overtook the
government. This was one of the major causes of the war since Rivera failed to unite
the entire country under his rule and it was left greatly divided. Another factor was
the economic strain faced during the Great Depression of the 1930s. Unemployment
was rising and Rivera was unable to fix Spain s economy and was forced to resign.
His resignation further weakened the government s control over the country, at a
time when the people were already struggling with the economy. The largest cause
of the war, though, was the social and political divide among the people. Spanish
people were divided into two political groups: the Republicans, made up of the
educated middle class, and the Nationalists, which were the more wealthy people who
had support of the Roman Catholic Church and military. While the Republicans were
originally in rule, the differences between them and the Nationalists led the
Nationalists to rebel. They planned an uprising, and began revolts in many Spanish
cities with a large military to back themselves up. The war

Population Growth And Its Impact On The Environment
In the short amount of time that humans have been on this planet they have evolved
and adjusted to many circumstances in climates over such a short period of time.
Humans have been on this planet for about 200,000 years and in that short amount of
time humans have changed, and grown drastically within that time frame. If the
population continues to grow at rapid rates our planet, environment, civilization, and
even humanity will suffer due to over consumption, pollution, and destruction
causing depletion and possibly even extinction. Overpopulationof civilizations could
lead to the depletion of fresh water, other natural resources, food supplies, and even
habitations. Humanity as a whole make choices regarding housing, food, water,...

The third era is the current account of population growth. The population numbers are
currently declining and will remain in a declining state indicating the culmination of
this era.
Poverty, medical intervention, technology, nutritional and cultural factors play a role
in increasing and decreasing growth population numbers. With the expansion of
suburbanization communities were introduced to the industrial age. Technology such
as farming equipment, machinery in factories, and simple household tools and
utilities introduced a great deal of employment opportunities. With the introduction of
farming equipment, the agricultural and nutritional aspect of our society improved
greatly. This era also introduced our society to child labor and the introduction of
women in the workforce. (Sachs, 2010) Due to the introduction of women in the
workplace, women chose to contribute financially to their family instead of staying
home, and having babies. Women were also choosing an education rather than being
a housewife. When we look at today s society men and women are following the past
and choosing educations and careers instead of immediately starting family s or
having smaller families. Medical intervention has also played a role in the population
growth and decrease. Not only do we have contraception to decrease population
growth, we also have fertility treatments to help increase population growth.

Isaac Barrow (October 1630 4 May 1677) was an English Christian theologian and
mathematician who is generally given credit for his early role in the development of
infinitesimal calculus; in particular, for the discovery of the fundamental theorem of

Arts of the Contact Zone by Mary Louise Pratt Essay
Arts of the Contact Zone by Mary Louise Pratt
The Arts of the Contact Zone by Mary Louise Pratt opened up a whole new
concept for our class. The new term contact zone appeared and Pratt defined it as
social spaces where cultures meet, clash, and grapple with each other, often in
contexts of highly asymmetrical relations of power, such as colonialism, slavery, or
their aftermaths as they are lived out in many parts of the world today. The idea of the
contact zone is intended in part to contrast with ideas of community that trigger much
of the thinking about language, communication, and culture.
According to Pratt, the two distinctive phenomenon of the contact zone are
autoethnographic text and transculturation. One of ... Show more content on

It would not be fair or effective to simply teach students from diverse backgrounds
how to write in the language of power while ignoring their culture and the fact that
there is a language of power. It is important for writing instructors to teach students
from the dominant community why their language is considered legitimate and why
the dialects or languages of other communities are not. In doing this, the instructor
can break down the barrier of the imagined community. If the instructor does not
address the issue of power in language, they run the risk of silencing their students
who are not from the dominant culture and be responsible for the students that are
from the dominant culture. First of all, the contact zone class can be applied mainly
to the extent of developing one s thoughts and ideas because of its focus on
conversation or speech. A writing process is much more than just to put what a writer
intends to say into words. In addition, Pratt pointed out the utopian quality and
abstract idea of the speech community. However, it is also true that in some contexts
like academic setting that kind of uniform idea of speech community has functioned
well to give necessary order and stability for the development of the community.
In a contact zone classroom, we are encouraged to turn ourselves to the outside world

Primo Levi s Survival in Auschwitz Essay
Sarah Johnson
Personal Response to Survival in Auschwitz
Why is the pain of every day translated so constantly into our dreams, in the ever
repeated scene of the unlistened to story (Levi, p 60)? As I read this quote in my
book, I highlighted it and wrote in the margin foreshadowing . I feel confident that
these dreams signified just that; that the author (amongst the other survivors) would
forever re live those horrors and try tell their stories...and no one listens. The poem
at the beginning of the book, Survival in Auschwitz, by Primo Levi, warns us of just
this and curses us should we fail to listen. It is imperative that we a global
community never forget and forever respect the struggle. I believe that this feeling, of
sharing his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We would think this to a reasonable response, however Levi goes on to educate
otherwise. Kuhn is out of his senses. Does he not see...Beppo, who is twenty years
old and is going to the gas chamber the day after tomorrow and knows it...? If I was
God, I would spit at Kuhn s prayer (p129). I thought that Levi s response to Kuhn s
prayer was extreme at first, for isn t it customary to give thanks for good fortune?
But then as I reflected on this, Levi was absolutely correct. How dare one man
thank God for living another day when the man beside him has been condemned?
There is no rhyme or reason to it, there is no why in the Lager. It is impossible for
them at the time to understand, which is why the law of the camp was do not think
. How can we begin to fathom now the how s or why s? It doesn t make sense. Who
wants to listen to a story that doesn t make any sense and acknowledge that it could
happen all over again?
Sometimes, we love to hear the story of a tragedy. For example, some of the most
well liked tragedies of all time include Gone with the Wind, Jane Eyre, Wuthering
Heights, many of Shakespeare s plays, and a Streetcar Named Desire. These are not
only stories though; they have their sadness but throughout there is also hope and
there are also morals, these are things to gain by these stories. The story the Levi
needs to share with us has no hope, it has no moral storyline that we can learn from

Introduction During this laboratory three submaximal test were done. YMCA
Submaximal Bike Test, Astrand Submaximal Bike Test, and The RockPort 1 Mile
Walk Test. Each of these test required taking Blood Pressure,Heart Rate, and times,
either at rest or while exercising. Everyone is a different when it comes to Blood
Pressure and Heart Rate. They both depend on how conditioned the personis. The
hypothesis is determining which test produced the highest Heart Rate and at what
times. Since resistance makes a person work harder, we assume that test will be the

Heart Rate was taken before and after the walk. How long it took the patient to walk
was also timed.
Results: This table shows the HR and Times of the subjects during each submaximal
test. For the Astrand test Subject 1 and Subject 2 were conditioned while Subject 3
was not conditioned. All subjects are females between the ages of 21 23. Some Sub
Maximal Test required multiple Heart Rates, the last Heart Rate was used.
HR ( Heart Rate)
Time ( when the patient finished) RHR (Resting Heart Rate)
Discussion/Conclusion Each one of these tests were submaximal meaning the
patient was not to max out. This all depends on the patient s ability or level of
fitness. The Submax for some people may actually be a Max test for others. All of
these test required the subjects or patients to do some type of physical activity
which would increase Heart Rate, especially since some these test had set time. The
hypothesis was that the YMCA Sub Max test was to have the highest Heart Rate,
while also determining if time had any effect. The results showed that the hypothesis
was wrong, even with the resistance that came with the YMCA testing, the Heart
Rate was still the lowest and depended on the subject. Subject 1 highest Heart Rate
was 128 at a time of 16.46 minutes, with the Rockport Test. Subject 2 highest Heart
Rate was 120 at a time of 6:00 minutes, with the Astrand. Also with Subject 2, the
highest Heart Rate was 124 at a time of 6:00 minutes,

Corrections Officers Role
Role Of Corrections Officers.
Introduction.
The gradual but important evolution of prison guards into professional criminal
officers has offered a great reflection of the shift of ideas about criminal justice in the
modern society (Maghan,2013). The premise that the society has the duty of
rehabilitating the prisoners has led to the creation of new duties , more training and
increased professionalism for the correctional officers that are charged with the
management and maintenance of security in prisons and other facilities of criminal
justice (Walters, Caywood 2006).As more interested is paid in the criminal and
justice systems in the USA, the role played by correctional officers not only in the
jails and prisons but society as well has gained increasing attention. In the most basic
sense, the officers and staff, in general, are charged with the responsibility of
ensuring the safety of the public. This is done primarily through the provision of

They also oversee the people that are still waiting for trial or hearings as well as the
ones that have already faced convictions and sentenced to serve their time in prison
reformatory or the penitentiary. The officers also maintain the general security aside
from observing the conduct and behavior of the prisoners so as to prevent any form
of disturbances or escapes. Some of the general roles of the officers that make it
necessary for the staff to have communication with the inmates , their peers and
supervisors include directing the movement of the inmates , maintaining the keys and
tools , controlling the use of equipment , distributing of items that have been
authorized to the prisoners , and maintaining the safety , sanitation and safety of the

Elizabethan Era Essay
Elizabethan Era Then and now
Elizabethan Era is one of many memorable and important events in England. It got its
name from Queen Elizabeth, the queen who ruled that era. The Elizabethan age is an
era that inspired national pride through classical ideals, poetry, literature, and more.
There are three aspects the states that the Elizabethan era as the Golden Age and it is
their military power, government, and most importantly culture. The first aspect is
their government; the backbone of the period. The government is divided into 3
parts. The first and most important one is Monarch it is comprised of the king or

During this period your life is determined by your gender or your wealth. Their
clothing varied among their social classes, with that being said a person who
wears old or lame clothes would be in the lower class such as farmers and the
people who wear nice or extravagant clothes would be in the higher class such as
nobles. Today people can wear anything that they want to wear; a poor person can
have stylish clothes and the rich could wear old or dirty clothes. Their
entertainment was extremely important to the people who lived in the Elizabethan
era. Elizabethan entertainment was popular when there was something to
celebrate and it often occurred nightly, but there were different types of
entertainment among the classes in England. Rich would do things which the
poor couldn t do or afford such as watch plays, go hunting, jousts among knights,
and more. The poor or the middle class would simply just listen to travelling
musicians and actors or to watch public plays. Today rich could only have
entertainment, because the poor has to work to feed themselves and has no spare
money to do such lavish things such as watching movies, going to a basketball
game, or go to a concert. During this period women were considered inferior to
men and were not allowed to have a job, this required men to become the sole
source of the family income and to represent it. They would usually work their
whole life to provide for their family and to raise the social ranking or title. Today
men and women were treated as equals and women could be the one to provide for the

Kawaii Research Paper
Many Westerners perceive Japan as weird. While many aspects of its culture differ
considerably from that of the United States and Europe, it is this difference that
while weird to some is fascinating and even tantalizing to others. One of the most
apparent of the cultural phenomena unique to Japan is the idea of kawaii. Kawaii is
a difficult term to translate into English, but the term celebrates sweet, adorable,
innocent, pure, simple, genuine, gentle, vulnerable, weak, and inexperienced social
behavior and physical appearances (Kinsella 220). The idea of kawaii appeared in
the mid 1960s through the 1970s and initially started with Japanese school girls.
Around that time, as indicated by advertisements and articles from magazines, the
desire for a youthful look evolved into a desire to emulate a cute, child like look.
Since then, the term kawaii deals mostly with the... Show more content on

In investigating the history of kawaii, this theme of rebellion surfaces with the ideas
of rejecting traditionally Japanese culture in favor of more of a European or Western
culture which was perceived to be more fun. This in a large part includes the idea of
cute handwriting that Japanese schoolgirls would practice in the 1960s and 70s
where the format read like Western writing left to right and included English words
and exclamation points. This was an experimentation by the youth in being able to
speak more freely and through this they expressed themselves more easily with a
style of writing that they felt more connected to as a result of their manipulations
(Kinsella 224). The adults and older generations did not share the same positive
reaction to this cute handwriting as they felt it was blatantly rebellious against
Japanese traditions and cultural values they upheld

Sherman Alexie On The Greek
On the Amtrak from Boston to New York City by Sherman Alexie tells a story of a
Native American man who is on a train listening to this white woman talking about
his culture. This frustrates the man because he feels that the white woman country
(America) took away his ancestors land. Alexie s poem addresses the problem he
has with American history and the problem he has with ignorant people. He doesn t
feel like his people were treated fairly throughout history, even though they arrived on
the land first. Sherman Alexie educates us about Native Americans and how they
have been mistreated in American history. Sherman Alexie s poem, On the Amtrak
from Boston to New York City can be read through a historical lens. First, let s start

lady to leave him alone. And maybe this is the feeling of some Native American
people when someone brings up an ignorant comment about their history. They don t

George Zimmerman Slaughter Case Study
This case gave me an insight on things I never expected to be true I never knew a
person could get away with murder/manslaughter. This case was greatly affected by
race. George Zimmerman saw a young black man going home and for some reason
thought he was a threat he probably sterotyped Trayvon, the moment he saw him.
There was no reason to pull a gun Zimmerman was much bigger than Trayvon if
there was a scuffle. Also since Zimmerman was never charged he has gone on to hurt
other people such. George Zimmerman has anger issues and should have had more
extensive screening. This has been proven by the following incidents:
On July 31, 2016, Zimmerman called the Seminole County Sheriff s Department to
report that he had been punched in the face at Gators Riverside Grille in
Sanford.[56]Zimmerman told investigators that he had been identified, and then
assaulted by another patron at the restaurant who accused him of bragging about
killing Trayvon Martin.[57]On November 9, 2016, Zimmerman was removed from a
bar after yelling at a waitress. A deputy on the scene said Zimmerman used a racial
slur before he left. Zimmerman stated he intended to sue the Seminole County Sheriff
s Office. ( George Zimmerman. Wikipedia. Wikimedia Foundation, n.d. Web. 20 ...

Trayvon was a black young man wearing a hooding with a pack of skittles in his
pocket. Zimmerman probably approached him because he felt he was up to no good
whether he likes it or not he did judge on race. Money was also a factor in this case
George Zimmerman was not short on any of it as his wife tried to hide the number
of funds they had and was she was later charged with a misdemeanor and had to do a
hundred hours of community service. Shellie Zimmerman said in September of 2013
that she has doubts about his innocence in the Trayvon Martin case. (Almasy, Steve)
This case caused a great uproar in the community and made people bring up the
inequalities they still face

Dionysus and the Unraveling of Ideologies in The Bacchae
Dionysus and the Unraveling of Ideologies in The Bacchae
Some evaluations claim that the Dionysus appearing in The Bacchae is fairly true
embodiment of the ideals of ancient Athens. He demands only worship and proper
reverence for his name, two matters of honor that pervaded both the Greek tragedies
and the pious society that viewed them. In other plays, Oedipus consultations with
Apollo and the many Choral appeals to Zeus reveal the Athenian respect for their
gods, while Electra s need for revenge and Antigone s obligation to bury Polyneices
both epitomize the themes of respect and dignity. Yet although Dionysus personifies
these two motifs, his clashes with the rest of Athenian tradition seem to make him its
true adversary. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Chorus first alludes to the traditional place of Athenian women with the
statement, driven from shuttle and loom, / possessed by Dionysus! (118 199), and
Pentheus later employs the same motif when threatening, I shall have them sold as
slaves or put to work / at my looms (513 514). Such a deliberate analogy amidst the
clash of divine and earthly power seems to highlight the woman s domesticated place
and to call attention to her role as a pawn in the struggle between the king and the
god. Though women were almost excluded from Athenian public life and women s
presence in male company [was] surrounded by many taboos in Athenian culture, the
frenzied Bacchae serve a necessary and conspicuous function in this drama.
Women in The Bacchae not only leave their traditional place within the home but are
thrust into a promiscuous position that contrasts sharply with the usual
characterization, [of] submissiveness and modesty. The proper conduct of a Greek
woman can be seen in another of Euripides dramas, Iphigenia at Aulis, where the
blameless wife is portrayed as chaste with regard to sexual matters. Certainly the
indulgences of the woodland orgies break from such secluded and silent positions of
respectable Athenian women, a challenge to traditional

The Big Problem With Obesity
The Big Problem with Obesity According to statistics from the Center of Disease
and Control (2013), over 35.7% of Americans are obese. The obvious cause for
such a huge amount of fat comes from bad eating habits and not enough physical
activity. These problems occur because of the direction of the American culture.
With America in an era of recession, many have relied on welfare and lost all hope,
which has led them to not being active at home. The activities come from another
part of America s culture, electronic devices. People are less enthusiastic to
exercise, because of TV and checking social media has been a must to do. Organic
foods are for the human body, but also expensive in the United States. Many
people can t afford to purchase organic food, so they find the quickest and easiest
solution which is fast food and microwaveable dinners. A person might ask, why
should people care about the obese people and their lifestyle? Obesity is filled with
statistics of death and disease. 18% of American deaths from 1986 to 2006 are
caused by obese symptoms to adults between the ages of 40 and 75 (Masters,
Reither, Powers, Yang, Burger Link, 2013, pp.1900). Although there are not any
recent statistics, Masters and his partners promise (2013, pp.1900) that there has not
been a fight made to lower these results, which means obesity is still a big problem
in American deaths. Even for the people that live and breathe today, obesity is still a
major problem in today s

Single and Not Ready to Mingle
Single and Not Ready to Mingle So many single people are under the impression
that they are ready to mingle again, but they are wrong! Are you one of them? How
ready do you think you are to mingle once more? People are single for many
different reasons. Some of the common reasons include that they choose to be
single, just came out of an emotional relationship and went through a trying
breakup, or that they find it difficult to meet the perfect partner. Being Single by
Choice People regularly choose to be alone and there is nothing wrong with that.
Some people perform better in life with a partner alongside them, but you find just
as many who prefer the opposite scenario. Choosing to be alone is perfectly normal
and people make this particular choice for the following reasons: They are
happiest when alone and totally love their own life They find being single to be a
simpler and easier life They enjoy doing all sorts of everyday things and activities
unaccompanied They have never been very social and are introverted around others
Depressed people find that being alone alleviates the depression Being alone give
them chance to reflect on their own situation, life, and future ambitions They have
more fun alone Various individuals find that being alone boost their self esteem Next
time that you wonder about a friend, family member, or colleague who has been
single for a long time, you may consider the above reasons instead of thinking that

Analysis Of Ayer s Moral Responsibility
Ayer s problem with holding one morally responsible for their actions when caused
deterministically is based on the fact the determinists believe that all decisions are
based on casual laws which say that one s destiny is already formed and one can
not change the outcome. This gives people the illusion of free will. The believe
they can decide between say two cars, A or B, but in fact based on casual laws they
were determined, even before birth, to choose car A. Ayres states that with situations
like this we can not hold them morally responsible for their choosing of car A as it
was not their choice to begin with. According to Ayer the problem with holding
someone responsible for accidental errors is that they simply could not control the...

I agree with Ayer that his first solution lead to a dead end when trying to disprove
determinism. It only made sense that going back to ones past and using previous
choices made only gave the same results to the choice being made at that present
moment. Ayer did an excellent job with his second solution and eliminating
causation as an argument against free will and instead replacing it with
constraints. Once the term constraint was implemented it all began to make sense.
Of course your free will is revoked once somebody puts you into a situation where
you are forced to do an action that you normally would not have done. When he

describing free will. His only mistake is to allow somebody with a mental disorder
such as kleptomania to be excused from free will. While they may not be able to

under the absences of free will. In all we do have free will and one choice does

determined by the universe because the events that happen in our lives are
spontaneous and as I stated before

Explain The Five Fundamental Practices Of The
Leadership...
It is my belief that that the five fundamental practices of the Leadership challenge
will enable me to accomplish extraordinary endeavors. The five practices: model the
way, inspire a shared vision, challenge the process, enable others to act, and
encouraging the heart, spoke to me on a foundational level. The leadership
challenges that Kouzes Posner (2012) propose, are closely reflective of my personal
belief system and philosophy of leadership. According to Northouse (2016)
Transformational leaders set out to empower followers and nurture them in change.
They attempt to raise the consciousness in individuals and to get them to transcend
their own self interests for the sake of others (p. 175).
Transformational leadership is important

Multiple Sclerosis Personal Statement
As a senior this year, I am looking forward to several endeavors, such as leading my
team in my last year of cheerleading, participating in a Senior Engineering Design
Project, and continuing to volunteer with VSVS, a program that allows Vanderbilt

past summer working on my research at the Vanderbilt Institute of Imaging Science
and will continue my projects throughout the schoolyear. I am excitingly close to
finishing the project I have been working on that involves a magnetic resonance
imaging study of patients with multiple sclerosis. We have employed quantitative

These topics and my interactions with clinicians in our lab have driven my interest
for pursuing the specific area of orthopedics. From back injuries, Tommy John
surgeries, broken feet, and a prosthetic leg, my family has also had a lot of
experience on the patient side of this specialty. The chance to rehabilitate athletes,
such as my loved ones, is appealing, but I know that these injuries are not exclusive
to this population, and my true passion lies in the opportunity to rehabilitate
individuals in underserved populations. My time in Guatemala and Nicaragua has
really grown my heart for people living in the impoverished countries of Central
America. My first mission trip there largely contributed to my passions for becoming
a doctor and since high school, my career goals have been aimed at building the skills
necessary to serve those communities. Eventually, I would love to be able to marry
my interests in global health and orthopedics, and incorporate my biomedical
engineering background, to contribute to research aimed at optimizing care and
medical technologies in low resource settings. As the leader in global orthopedic

My Sassy Girl As A Hero s Journey
The Hero s Journey is an observation of the hero archetype in literature, as well as a
story template and idea. John Campbell s The Hero with a Thousand Faces details
each step a hero may pass through during his adventure. The book contains detailed
descriptions of each of the twenty one steps. Although, these can be summarized into
five basic steps: Call to Adventure, Refusal of the Call, Crossing the Threshold
/Passage into the Realm, The Road of Trials, and Return to the World of the Common
Day. The Heros Journey archetype is represented heavily in popular culture. My Sassy
Girl, directed by Kwak Jae yong, details the relationship between a young male

The Girl throws up and passes out on the train due to excess alcohol consumption.
This is where Gyeon woo s journey begins. His call to adventure is the choice to
either help or not help The Girl. He initially dumps her at the subway but he turns
around, picks her up, and takes her to a motel. These are the steps Refusal of the
Call and Passage into the Realm respectively. The majority of the film takes place
during The Road of Trials step. This is the step that Gyeon woo articulates his
journeys goal besides finding love. He is continually surprised at The Girl s
beauty, brazenness and lack of respect for him. Even more odd, The Girl forces
Gyeon woo on a sequence of bizarre dates despite her flippant nature. After one of
these dates again ends in Gyeon woo carrying her back to the motel, he vows to,

him, allows her to forget her boyfriend s death. His refusal to quit after suffering
abuse at her hands emotionally overwhelms her and they separate while making

Research Paper On Professional Nursing
Professional Nursing: Emerging and Growing Through Research
Nursing as a profession involves multidisciplinary and holistic approaches to integrate
the essence of scientific practices into compassionate and humanistic approaches in
rendering care to patients. It is an art that reflects an expression of science, emotions,
power and creativity to deliver the so called tailored delivery of patient care. From the
time of Florence Nightingale up to the present, countless developments and
improvements in the field of nursing evolved. This is the outcome of thorough
research activities that influenced the modernization of this noble profession. Nursing

Defining Fundamental Pattern of Nursing Knowledge
As a nursing professional, several aspects of knowledge are involved in the
application of care. The fundamental pattern of nursing knowledge starts with science
or empirical evidences governed by factual and explicit information and acceptable
knowledge, such as the procedures and guidelines of nursing practice. It is derived
from scientific methodology that supports the intellectual explanation of health and
illness phenomena and the processes involve in the cycle of human life. (Carper,
1978). The second pattern represents the esthetic part of nursing knowledge which is
also known as the art of nursing. The concept that is represented in this pattern is the
expressive nature of delivery of care rather than descriptive and objective in nature.

Anzaldua And Fanon Summary
Language may be the most important part of identity. Language takes an identity
from being an individual trait, and transforms it into a social one. The problem with
language being a part of a person s identity is that there are many languages and not
all languages are seen as equal. Anzaldua and Fanon address how some languages are
seen as inferior and establish an us and them mentality within nations and cultures.
Fanon takes the approach of becoming the us or superior languageand culture, while
Anzaldua makes the claim that a person is able to be a part of more than one culture
and language without losing ones own. Anderson uses language to establish the
origins of language based separation based on the us and them concept as well as
nations.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Anderson points out that many nations were established based on the creation of a
national language that was designed to unify the people and establish a distinction
from other nations (Anderson 2006). The process of establishing a national
language had both positive and negative effects. People who did not speech the
national language felt excluded and were essentially marginalized. The people who
spoke the language were more included and regarded as true citizens. The process
was more successful when the language was more widespread in the nation.
Language is the tool that can create nations as well as divide culture, countries, and
people. The use of language is important in establishing identities. For people like
Anzaldua it can strengthen an identity while for people Fanon mentioned it strips a
person of their identity and replaces it with the superior language and culture.
Language is constantly changing and expanding, which in turn causes identities,
cultures, and nations to change and expand as

Feminist Representation Of Mythology In Wonder Woman
s...
The recent Wonder Woman cinematic remake has made major waves as a prime
example of the increasing feminist influence on modern society. Despite the story s
comic book origin, it contains many references and elements of ancient Greek myth.
Mythology and other forms of storytelling have remained a constant reflection of
societal values of that period, and remain so to this day. In the movie, Diana is a
representation of ancient myth and the slow shift in societal preconceptions towards
the ideology of the modern day.
In the 2017 film Wonder Woman, the protagonist Diana can trace her origins back to
the original comics in the 70 s. However, many of the people closest to her in the film
can be found in ancient Greek myth, with slightly altered stories. In this modern
myth, Diana s mother is Hippolyta, queen of the Amazons. The Amazons as a whole
are repeatedly mentioned in ancient myth as fierce female warriors with Hippolyta
as their fearless leader. Famously Hippolyta was given a girdle by her father Ares,
which Heracles was sent to retrieve as one of his impossible tasks, thus marking one
of the first myths where the Greeks and Amazons interacted. This differs greatly from
the film where Ares is the enemy rather than the father of the Amazons, reflecting a
less barbaric and perhaps even positive outlook on the origins of the Amazons in the
film. In this modern take Ares is shown as evil personified and positioning the
Amazonians against him shows them as heroes rather than

The Pillowman Play Analysis
The Pillowman is a dark comedy written in 2003 by British Irish playwright Martin
McDonagh. First staged in 2007, The Pillowman returns to the stage, once again
deftly helmed by Tracie Pang and an incredible cast and creative team of the
company, Pangdemonium!; set design by Eucien Chia; lighting by James Tan, music
and sound by Darren Ng. The Pangdemonium s production at the Victoria Theatre
runs for 3 hours.
Martin McDonagh s The Pillowman is a dark drama that takes place in a nameless
totalitarian state. The play opens in a police interrogation room as two detectives,
Tupolski (Adrian Pang) and Ariel (Shane Mardjuki), question a man named Katurian
(Daniel Jenkins) about some violent child murders.

Ensuring that one scene does not anticipate, and hence betray another, Tracie Pang
s finely calibrated direction captures and sustains the rollercoaster extremes of
McDonagh s stories, evoking smiles that split into gasps, and laughter that
abruptly stops in its tracks. She understands that in a good story, one should never
be able to tell what will happen next. She must be something of an expert at
directing The Pillowman by now and sets the dark, ultraviolent tone right from the
start. It helped that Eucien Chia s multi layered set was so phenomenal, and
furthered the feelings of fear, anxiety and uneasy atmosphere. The set allowed for
some rapid changes, and I was impressed at the split second transitions between
scenes, and the detail that went into it. A single slide of a door would result in the
transformation from a police station to a storybook world and really immersed the
audience into the world with how elaborate it was. When the stories were being
staged, Pangdemonium! employed the use of MOJO Studios animation to bring them
to life, adding a new dimension to the storytelling process and an added layer of

Treadmill Persuasive Speech
Our knees are very sensitive to pressure, and running is unfortunately an activity
that involves high impact on them, but only if the surface on which you are
running isn t cushioned at all. Many people see the treadmill as being a bad
surface to run on for their knees, and while this is partially true, the treadmill is
still a better surface to run on than concrete, which is truly dangerous due to its
roughness. The reason why we said that the statement about the treadmill being a
bad surface for you to run on is only partially true is because there are certain
factors which make running on this device a dangerous activity, but only if you are
misinformed and do it incorrectly. Therefore, the answer is no, running on the

their knees. To avoid having any knee injuries while running on the treadmill, you

Advantage And Disadvantage Of Biodiesle
ABSTRACT
As renewable, sustainable and alternative fuel compression ignition engines, biodiesel
instead of diesel has been increasingly fuelled to study its effects on engines
performance and emissions in the recent years. But these study has been rarely

previous study from other researcher, the effect of biodiesel on engine performances
and emission on the formation of soot in the different biodiesel blend is being cited
for the revision. But, on chapter 4 of this report there will the discussion on data and

The use of biodiesel lead to the substantial reduction in particulate matter (PM),

With the commercialization of bioenergy, it has provided an effective way to fight
against the problem of petroleum scarce and the influence on environment. Today,
fossil fuels take up 80% of the primary energy consumed in the world, which 32% is
consumed by the transport sector.
Biodiesel, as an alternative fuel of diesel, is describe as fatty acid methyl or ethyl
esters from vegetable oils or animals fats. It is renewable, biodegradable and
oxygenated. Although many researches pointed out that it might help to reduce
greenhouse gas emissions, promote sustainable rural development and improve
income distribution, there still exist some resistances for using it. The major cause
is the lack of knowledge about the influence of biodiesel or diesel engines. Other
than that, the using of biodiesel doesn t giving the same amount of energy compared
to original diesel because biodiesel have more additives as compared to

Goals of the Progressive Era Essay
The term Progressivism implies a philosophy that promotes change/reform in the
current political, economic, and social aspects of society while conservatism
stresses gradual change in society but promotes tradition rather than change. The
Progressive movement from 1901 to 1917 worked to improve aspects of society
that grew out of problems which occurred during the Industrial Age. The goals of
the Progressives were to stop monopolies, corruption, inefficiency and social
injustices. Both progressive acts and amendments were being passed to deal with
social ills, corruption in politics and corporate America. The period from 1901 1917
was more a victory for liberalism, mainly modern liberalism , than a triumph of
conservatism due to the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through busting the bad trusts Theodore attempted to stop monopolies from
forming. This is an example of government intervention to remedy the effects of
capitalism and a liberal practice. He also started the progressive or the Bull Moose
party. Clearly, these reform movements as well as the busting of trusts move away
from the traditional aspect of politics and promotes autonomy of the individual as
well as strong government to remedy the defects of capitalism, both liberal ideals.
Furthermore, economics also played a key role in describing whether liberalism or
conservatism triumphed in this era. President William Howard Taft encouraged a
policy known as Dollar Diplomacy where the United States invested in foreign
countries in order to gain power. This dollar diplomacy would make money for as
well strengthen the US. Later Taft went on to become more of a trust buster than
Roosevelt. His most noteworthy bust was the Standard Oil Company, one of the
largest trusts of the time, which was ordered to be broken into smaller companies in
1911. He then went on to attack another one of the largest trusts, The US Steel
company which Roosevelt had allowed to survive since he deemed it as a good
trust. Roosevelt became furious as Taft when he heard of this. Taft then passed the
Payne Aldrich bill which he unwisely named the best bill that the Republican Party
ever passed which split the Republican Party into old school/more

The Power Of Not Parenting Ray Bradbury Analysis
The Power of Not Parenting 2.0
Ray Bradbury uses imagery and characterization to allude to the fact that the use of
tech as a supplementary parenting technique can cause child development problems
in many forms.
In the beginning of the story Bradbury uses imagery like ...you could feel the
prickling fur on your skin...your mouth was stuffed.... Which gives the impression
that the difference between reality, and technology are unrecognizable. The border
between ethical enjoyment and living in an artificial reality is washed away
because of these types of technological advances that caused humans, especially the
Hadley family, to pass the line where technology should not mess with a human s
mental emotions, however a remnant will remain where ethical enjoyment met its
boundary which is signified in the text in the form of, ...we bought this house, so
we would not have to do anything That is just it. I feel like I do not belong here.
Which shows how destructive this perceived toy and it s consumer friendly gadget
counterparts can be if it can cause this much stress, and has the possibility of pulling
families apart, especially where it hurts. Which in this case is at the seams, the love
factor of a connected family is missing in this scenario, so much that the kids
eventually plot against and supposedly kill their parent, just to get more time to play
with this insidious invention.
The showing of how the nursery is so detailed in the quotes exemplifies the
importance of this

Racial Identity And Gender Identity
In a recent South Park episode, titles The Cissy , in order for his own personal gain
to use the girls bathroom and later to receive his own bathroom, Cartman dons a
pink bow on his head to become Erica. Meanwhile, Randy Marsh (as known as
Lorde to most and Stan s dad) must battle with his gender identity and that of his
music as women at his work are uncomfortable with sharing a bathroom with him,
therefore he must receive his own against his wishes. While both Cartman s and
Randy Marsh s struggles with their genderidentity revolve around the use of a
bathroom, through the juxtaposition of the actions of shooting a school and
becoming transgender, the symbolism of the executive bathroom, and the final scene
of Stan singing in the bathroom designated for Cissys reveal society s inability to
comprehend gender identity struggles, thus exposing the uselessness of gender
labeling. The juxtaposition of the actions of shooting a school and wearing a bow
cause laughter from the audience thus revealing society s inability to comprehend the
seriousness of both actions. In the beginning of the episode, the audience is shown a
scene of Eric Cartmancontemplating what the audience assumes is a school shooting,
for he says They ve laughed at me, poked fun at me... They don t know what s in my
right pocket but they ll know soon enough and they ll pay, (The Cissy). This, coupled
with the menacing music playing in the background, further emphasizes the
importance of Cartman s

External Conflict In Othello
IN HIS PLAY OTHELLO, SHAKESPEARE EXPLORES HOW CONFLICT CAN
IMPACT NEGATIVLEY ON PEOPLES LIFE. DISCUCSS THIS STATEMENT?
Shakespeare s Othello is a play dependably based on marital, internal and physical
conflict and how it can negatively impact people s lives. Upon closer inspection, the
conflict that exists throughout this play becomes clear that the conflict is the sole
start for the destruction that occurs during the play. Throughout Othello, each
character incites his own jealousy in one another to gain what they crave most;
power. conflict becomes a prominent aspect of tragedy.
internal conflict has the capacity to destruct the true morals of each character.
Conflict stems from Iago s own craving of what others have and what he lacks.
Internal conflict is demonstrated through Iago s emotion of jealousy. as Iago
speaks to Roderigo about the moor, his sense of internal conflict is through
Desdemona and Othello s marriage. For example, his quote, Despise me if I do
not. Three great ones of the city in personal suit to make me his lieutenant off
capped to him I am worth no worse a place . Acts to be a metaphor, emphasising his
conflicted state of mind. Iago believes he deserves the position of lieutenant but
Othello has a different opinion. This clearly shows Iago s hate for Othello because
he is a man of power, something Iago desires. Due to Iago s jealousy Othello finds
himself in the middle of Iago s plots causing a negative impact on Othello s life.
This also impacts each related characters life as Iago is devious and back stabbing
towards Othello. Due to Iago, conflict is shown to negatively dominate in people s
lives.
Conflict is the main theme Shakespeare explores in this play. Brabantio, Othello s
father in law finds himself the root cause to many complications in Othello and
Desdemona s marriage. This is marital conflict due to Brabantio causing issues
between the married couple as he wants them separated. Brabantio begins to display
his hate towards Othello when Othello announces his undying love for Desdemona
Brabantio quoted o thou foul thief, where hast thou stowed my daughter? . This is a
metaphor as Brabantio is convinced that Othello spelled her to love him. Brabantio
believes Othello s

Lester B. Pearson and the Suez Canal Crisis
The Suez crisis was a conflict that could have easily turned into a third World War.
With a battle between the Israelis and Egyptians at Sinai, the British and French
invasion of Egypt, and nuclear threats from the Soviet Union, all of the elements
were present to escalate the conflict and pull other countries into the fray. Canada had
no direct ties to the Suez crisis, in terms of control or economic interest. However,
Canadian Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Lester B. Pearson, persuaded the UN
General Assembly to send in the United Nations Emergency Force. Even though
Lester B. Pearson dismayed the Commonwealth with his measures for peace, Canada
was recognized for starting the first ever United Nations Peacekeeping mission....

The Israeli advance towards the canal is a fake to show the world that Egypt in danger
of being overthrown by the Israelis. The British and French then dissimulate as
peacekeepers, trying to diffuse then tension between Egypt and Israel. They offer
Nasser an ultimatum: Israel and Egypt are to cease fighting or the two Western
powers will intervene . On the 31st of October this ultimatum expires and France and
Britain attack, bombing Alexandria and sending in thousands of troops. Russia then
threatens Britain and France with Nuclear weapons. At this point it looks as though
the world is on the brink of another World War.
Canada had no interest to the Suez crisis, in terms of control, economic or military
interest, but Lester B. Pearson saw an opportunity to intervene. While the Cabinet
in Ottawa debated about the attack on Egypt, the UN Security Council met in New

not block this, however, negative votes would not constitute a veto. The Suez Canal

College Is A Waste Of Time And Money
General Education It is likely that anyone doing research on the value of a general
education (GE) would run across one of the many Caroline Bird articles. In a 1975
article titled College is a Waste of Time and Money Bird makes a logical argument
against the benefits of education for the masses. Despite arguing against a college
education, Bird, on the other hand, held a master s degree and taught at Vassar
College in New York, the same school she graduated. According to U.S. News
World Report (2015), Vassar College s ranking in the 2015 edition of Best Colleges
is National Liberal Arts Colleges, 11. Its tuition and fees are $49,570 (2014 15),
and Classes with fewer than 20 students [is] (63.7%). This indicates to me that
Vassar is a prestigious college. All in all, I cannot help wonder, is Bird as an
elitist? First, she champions for the masses to be content with careers as being
domestic servants (1964, p. 6 8). Second, Bird claims more people could be
employed if American society were to reclassify a domestic position as one of
equality with the employer. I am not sure how daft she thinks her readers to be, but
I do not know anyone who perceives someone who scrubs a toilet to be of equal
stature (less it is our own family member). How many CEOs or school principals
feel equally at home with their head in a commode or the janitor in their building or
school to be of equal stature? In Bird s case she writes, people should aim lower to

Eisenhower Motivation
. . . ;a sense of humor can be a great help particularly a sense of humor about
(oneself). William Howard Taft joked about his own corpulence and people loved it;
took nothing from his inherent dignity. Lincoln eased tense moments with bawdy

A sense of humor is part of the art of leadership, of getting along with people, of
getting things done.

and the reasons been that motivation is key when it comes to production and
having an efficient team working for you. Motivation would help me greatly as
leader because self motivated leaders normally work tireless towards their goals
and produce extremely high standard and quality of their work. To do this I will
have to examine myself and ask myself questions as to why I doing this. This will

I happy or unhappy in my role, what am I struggling with, By asking these

This means that you need to know the steps that you should take, if you are
unfortunately part of an accident. Timing is important after any accident and you
can save lives if you take the right steps at the right time. Here is a brief guide of
what to do in case of a truck accident. Medical Help The first step should always be
to seek medical help. The value of life is above all losses and therefore, you should
always contact medical emergency services in case you are involved in truck
accidents in California. Investigate the Incident Once you have received medical
attention, then next step is to investigate the accident. Truck accidents in California
are easy to investigate, because they occur due to repeating circumstances. You need
to ensure that you help in identifying the evidence that clearly indicates, which truck
driver is at fault. Collecting Evidence You need to collect strong evidence that can
be accepted in a court of law. You should take the pictures of your vehicle, as well as
that of the truck which caused the accident. You should also record your injuries and
obtain their description from a medical professional. Obtain Legal

Media Is The Cause Of Violence In America s Youth
Since the beginning of time, there has been violence. However, recently society has
been putting the blame on media such as movies, television, literature, video games
and music. This blame placing became very relevant in 1985 when Parents Music
Resource Center was founded as a way to ban, restrict or censor media that was
found to not only be inappropriate, but was also apparently the cause of violencein
America s youth. While some still agree that media is the sole reason behind the
increase in drug usage, suicide and murder, that is not the case. A piece called

organize their thoughts while reading. There are several formats for this graphic
organizer, depending on which aspects of fictional texts are being discussed or
taught. A teacher may decide to focus on beginning, middle, or end; or in a more
advanced format, focus on the characters, plot, setting, problem, and solution of a
story. This strategy is beneficial during and after reading. Students may encounter this

How Sport Has Changed My Life
Introduction: FГ№tbol or soccer, it doesn t matter the way you say it, although
what it has done for us as humans is very significant. For me soccer is everything I
play it, watch it, and talk about it, the sport has led my life since I first gained
interest towards it in grade four. There must be a reason why it the most watched
sport in the world, it brings everyone in the world together no matter what race,
nationality, or gender. Ever since grade six I have been trying to encourage soccer
into my projects for school, I haven t had a chance of properly incorporating my
true passion. This is until now, the first time I ever heard of the personal project
was the first time I came to Carson Graham. Our school in grade seven brought us
to this massive school in which we had no clue about why we were actually there.
The first presentation I saw was someone who built a robot that could follow lights
for direction. The thought that I had to do this project in grade ten scared me, I
had no clue what I really wanted to do. This was until I started thinking about it
more and one thought came into my mind, that was to create Goal Line
Technology. This form of technology was quite new at the time, this was because
they just announced that they were going to start using it in one of the top five
leagues in Europe, the first league to incorporate it was the Barclay s Premier
League. My project goal was to create a fully working demo of Goal Line
Technology. At first I was scared that I

Mishim A Life In Four Chapters
Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters is a film based on both the life of Yukio
Mishima and three of the books that he wrote during his career as an acclaimed
Japanese author. The four books with stories featured in the film are The Temple
of the Golden Pavilion, Kyoko s House, and Runaway Horses. The film uses
several different stylistic devices to represent the shift in narrative from Mishima s
life to his stories, such as how flashbacks to his past are depicted in black and
white, while the present day and the stories from his novels are in color. Each story
is also used to reflect a certain time or strongly held belief in Mishima s life, such as
how the protagonist in Runaway Horses is also obsessed with returning Japan to its
imperial past. The movie showcases several different characteristics of Japanese
culture, such as the importance of Kinkaku ji, the carrying of swords, and sexuality.
Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters was directed and primarily produced by
Americans, including the famous George Lucas serving as an executive producer.
This could be surprising to some viewers because the film... Show more content on

Through the film, the viewer is able to learn about the topic of homosexuality during
1950s Japan, where homosexuals would have to keep their activity confined to
certain bars or clubs, which was very similar to what was occurring in the United
States at the time. The film also introduces the viewer to Kinkaku ji in Kyoto, a very
important Buddhist temple in a historic Japanese city. Finally, the film present the
popular presence of swords as the weapon of choice by many military men during
Mishima s life due to the swords association with the samurai of the past. Overall,
Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters is an interesting and dynamic look into the life and
work of Yukio Mishima and reveals a great deal about Japanese

Lord Kelvin s Discovery Of The Kelvin Scale
William Thomson, seems like an ordinary man living in the 19th century, but what if
I said, Lord Kelvin...would that spark any knowledge? Lord Kelvin, otherwise known
as William Thomson, is well known for his discovery of the Kelvin scale. Without
multiple inventions and discoveries made by William Thomson, the science world
would be lacking much insight of thermodynamics, navigation at sea, and
communication across the Atlantic. Although not an Einstein, Thomson s
contributions to the science world have allowed scientists and our physics class to
learn about absolute zeroand how to make calculations using the Kelvinscale. Without
knowledge of these things, I know the world of science would not be the same.

In 1841, Thomason s paper, Fourier s expansions of functions in trigonometrically
series, was published defending Fourier s mathematics and in 1842, his third paper
was published, On the uniform motion of heat and its connection with the
mathematical theory of electricity. Through his college years, he began to notice and
look extra carefully into electricity, magnetism, and heat. The professors at
Cambridge taught and interested William of modern experiments that were being
done involving these following topics. With more interest in electricity, magnetism
and heat, Thomson wanted to find out how all of these things related and how they
interacted with one another.
After graduation from Cambridge, he worked in a Paris laboratory with the
physics professor, Victor Regnault. Working with Regnault allowed him to gain
experimental competence to help him further his education about science. After
working in the lab, an open position arose at the University of Glasgow in 1846 and
William s father made a careful and well thought out campaign to allow his son to
get the position. At the age of 22, William was named to the position and accepted
the job. Thomson, for most of his life, remained in this position and resigned his
university chair in 1899 when he was 75 years old. One of his colleagues, Professor
J. D. Cormack, wrote this explaining Thomson when he delivers a class lecture, It is

The Downward Sprial of the United States Economy Essay...
The Downward Spiral of the United States Economy In the world to date, there
seems to be an increase of world governments needing bailouts, and people of the
world needing assistance from the United States. This idea has caused many
Americans to come to the conclusion that if the United States closed off borders to
foreign trade, it would increase it s standard of living and make America more
profitable. However, this idea is false. The United States must not close off it s
borders to foreign trade because if trade borders were to close, American
manufacturing plants would begin to shut down, the American transportation system
and public services would suffer resulting in American job loss. If the US closes off
borders to foreign trade,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The US transportation industry would suffer economic hardships jobs would be
lost and transportation companies would shut down due to lack of business. The
United States imports sixty percent of all oil used from foreign nations (Lugar). If
foreign oil was not imported, an immediate price rise would be in effect on the oil
that is gathered and stored internally. Because it can take five to ten years to start
up an oil processing plant, the oil reserves in the US would be depleted. The price
for a gallon of gasoline would double, seriously affecting transportation: Saudi
Arabia has the largest [oil] reserve capacity followed by Iran, Iraq, Kuwait and the
United Arab Emirates (Lugar). If the US closed off borders to foreign imported
oil, then not only would the American transportation system would disappear but
thousands of American jobs would be lost. Diesel is used in the transportation of
goods in America in both semi trucks and modern trains. Not only is diesel and gas
used in the transportation of goods but also in the creation of them. If the US
stopped importing foreign oil, and the prices on both gasoline and diesel rose
exorbitantly: so too would the cost of the products they carried and helped to create.
Transporting goods state to state would become costly and eventually, would stop
altogether. Closing American borders to foreign oil will cause problems for to the
transportation industry as well as

The Importance Of A Training Needs Assessment
The purpose of a training needs assessment is to identify performance requirements
and the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed by an agency s or company s
workforce to achieve the requirements. (Office of Personnel Management, n.d.)
(Words in italics added) To do this one must follow through a process such as the one
proposed by Saks and Haccoun. (Saks Haccoun, 2013, pp. 102 105) The concern is
that there is the potential of non compliance with electric generation and transmission
utility regulatory requirements. The concern is important, because non compliance
can lead to financial penalty, loss of reputation, shareholder concern and investment
rating agency demotion. Once the concern and importance have been substantiated
and agreed to by senior management, stakeholders will be consulted for both
awareness of the importance of regulatory requirements and the relevance of
regulatory requirements to their position. Data will be collected using a variety of
methods (more on this later) and the results collated and provided as a report to the
Training Committee. A number of sources agree that the collected information be
analyzed in accordance with the organization, the task and the personnel. (Saks
Haccoun, 2013) (Miller Osinski, 1996) (Office of Personnel Management, n.d.)
Concern and Importance Senior management has been made aware of several issues
where uninformed employees have made decisions that may jeopardize compliance
with regulatory requirements.

Analysis Of The New York Times By Cyra Mcfaddin
In Cyra McFaddin s article published in the New York Times titled In Defense of
Gender, she asserts that male pronouns should not be eliminated from written and
spoken English works. McFaddin uses satire in an attempt to make readers
sympathetic to a writer s problem of trying to be nondiscriminatory by using gender
neutral language. Cyra McFaddin s goal is to convince readers that gender neutral
language won t solve any problems or advance feminist ideas because she believes
some take it to the extreme. She also thinks that using slashes and the term person
makes the English language sound cumbersome and will never please everyone. I
disagree with McFaddin. She is quick to criticize the progress that others are
attempting to make without offering a solution to the gender neutral language that
she so despises. I believe that any progress forward is worthwhile, and accuracy is
paramount. Ultimately, everyone just wants to be included in the default. While
McFaddin attempts to use humor to cover her complaints of how bland or distracting
writing seems when gender neutral language is used, and how it doesn t aid in the
development of relationships when used; inclusion of everyone is much more
valuable and worthwhile.
McFaddin makes the point that when writers use a slash in their work, it can be
distracting to read especially out loud. She does this by saying, In print, those person
suffixes and he/she s jump out from the page, as distracting as a cloud of gnats,

North Korea Threats
North Korea Defector Says Information More Dangerous than US Threats
In the article North Korea Defector says Information More Dangerous than US
Threats, Zachary Cohen, an experienced writer for CNN, suggests that North
Korean Leader Kim Jong Un is preparing himself for a nuclear was that only he is
going to start and persuading people that Un is not prepared to rule North Korea. He
develops this claim by first telling who he is interviewing and why this man is
important. He tells the reader that this man escaped North Korea with his family
while they were on a business trip. He then continues to explain that because Thae

He feels that his power and his people s feeble mindedness may be in danger of
change. Cohen s purpose is to allow the people wondering where the future lies, to
have a glimpse into North Korea. Giving people information about what is
happening on the inside of the secluded country gives everyone a chance to see
what may happen in the future. He establishes a very straight forward tone while
describing the situation to the people of America. Zachary Cohen utilizes repetition
throughout his article, for example, As long as Kim Jong Un is in power,
....consolidated power by sheltering the North Korean....maintain his unquestioned
grip on power ... The effect of the repetitiveness of power is that the condition of
North Korea is shown. Throughout the article, it is proven that North Korea is a
power hungry, demanding, unstable country. Cohen tells in his article that one of
the many reasons Kim Jong Un is so obsessed with power is because he feels that
he is in danger of losing his power. If the people that he has brainwashed gain the
knowledge of what he is doing is to them, he runs a very high risk of being
overthrown. In addition, the author continuously puts digression into his article.

Analysis Of Orphan Train
The book Orphan Train written by Christina Baker Kline gives the reader a
detailed look into the lives of both Vivian and Molly, and how their stories
compare and contrast. Molly, a young goth teenage girl who is orphaned at young
age due to the death of her father, is introduced as a delinquent of sorts that has to
make up for a book she has stolen from the library. Her boyfriend, Jack, finds a
volunteering opportunity for her through his mother; the job requires Molly to sort
through and get rid of mementos that belong to an old woman named Vivian. As
Vivian and Molly organize the mementos, Vivian informs Molly that she too is an
orphan, and explains the stories behind each item they encounter. As the story
progresses, Molly learns more and more about Vivian s life, and becomes infatuated
with her anecdotes. Vivian tells of how her parents and sister supposably died, how
she had to board and Orphan Trainand was sent to various families. Vivian describes
in detail what problems she faced as an orphan, the people she met, and how it
shaped her as a person. Despite initially being reluctant to help Vivian, Molly comes
to realize that her life story is fascinating, and helps Vivian research the people that
came up in her story. The characters in the Orphan Train, especially in the families
that Vivian is forced to live with, all seem to present varying different personalities
that challenge Vivian. For example, the Hunt 2 first familyshe was sent to, The
