3. New words Tawny beast : brownish-yellow  The lion is a tawny beast. Roars:  gives out long loud sound Lion roars, cat mews and dog barks. This tiger is roaring at the lady in the forest . Discern : see  This man can’t discern a tiny thing without a magnifying glass. Strolling : wandering, brisk walkingI saw these two strolling along the sea side. Strolling along the sea side is very pleasant. Novice : a beginner  These small monks are novice of religious rituals. I am a novice in driving car.  

4.   Asian Lion The Asian Lion is a large beast.  He is brownish-yellow in colour.  He roars.  The sound is terrible to hear.  This makes one almost die due to great fear.  He is found in the forest in the eastern countries of Asia . That’s why he is called ‘Asian Lion’.

5. Bengal Tiger The Bengal Tiger roams in the forest freely.  He is the king of animals.  He looks noble.  He has black stripes on a yellow background.  When this tiger notices someone he tries to eat him.  He is so terrifying with his jaw and teeth.

6. L eopard A leopard has spots on his hide.  These are black in colour on his yellow skin.  He is a great runner.  As soon as he sees someone he leaps over him at once.  He attacks on him and starts eating.  He is so terrifying and powerful.

7. Bear The poet describes the bear in a humourous way.  As soon as the bear comes near a human being, he embraces him tightly.  Then he starts to make his hug tight.  He starts squeezing one to death.  He will touch him lovingly.  That’s why, it is known ‘a bear’s hug’

8. hyena and a Crocodile The poet describes the crocodile and the hyena humourously .  The crocodile has tears in his eyes when it comes near its victim.  The hyena has happy smiles on its face.  But this is not so.  The hyena’s face is made like this.

9. Humour in the poem.. he poet creates humour by describing various beasts of prey differently.  It is by the use of words and emotions.  The Bengal tiger is never ‘noble’ in his heart.  The leopard kills his prey in moments.  His crying won’t save him.  The bear’s hug is never loving.  The hyena never smiles happily.
