SOME EXAMPLES
Present simple- active: I write the letter. (I perform the action)- passive: the letter is written by me. (The letter receives the action) Present continuous- active: they are building the house. (They perform the action)- passive: the house is being built by them. (The house receives the action) Present perfect- active: she has eaten the cake. (She performed the action)- passive: the cake has been eaten by her. (The cake received the action) Past simple- active: he wrote the book. (He performed the action)- passive: the book was written by him. (The book received the action)
Past continuous- active: they were painting the picture. (They performed the action)- passive: the picture was being painted by them. (The picture received the action) past perfect- active: we had finished the project. (We performed the action)- passive: the project had been finished by us. (The project received the action) future simple- active: they will make the decision. (They will perform the action)- passive: the decision will be made by them. (The decision will receive the action) future continuous- active: she will be teaching the class. (She will perform the action)- passive: the class will be being taught by her. (The class will receive the action) Future Perfect- Active : He will have completed the task. (He will perform the action)- Passive : The task will have been completed by him. CONCLUSION- SUMMARY: Active voice is used when the subject performs the action, while passive voice is used when the subject receives the action.- Remember: choose the appropriate voice depending on the context and emphasis you want to convey .
